In our humble, bumblebee opinion, this summer will be the summer of Becky Hill! Not only is she bringing back her iconic You/Me/Us curated residency at Ibiza Rocks and playing sets at festivals like Big Weekend Dundee, but she’s giving us unbelievable new music. Her latest single with Lewis Thompson, ‘Side Effects,’ has been living in our minds rent-free and we’re not complaining at all.
On ‘Side Effects,’ Becky explores those weird feelings you can get about your ex when you’re stepping forward with someone new. “The more I’m moving on, the more I can’t forget,” she admits over a gorgeously bouncy beat that’s ready for your next club trip with friends or thoughtful, late-night feels session by yourself. The energy is simply electrifying and we can definitely see this song soundtracking our summer memories!
I haven’t released a solo record in over a year, so coming out the door after a second BRIT win feels very exciting! I’m playing the UK’s best festivals this year and I can’t wait for people to have a new song to sing along with me. ‘Side Effects’ has been made with my favourite people in the industry and this one really feels like the beginning of my new chapter in my artistry. Album two, here we come.
“Album two,” we hear? Yup, this is all we’re gonna be talking about for a while. Since Becky released her Only Honest On The Weekend album in August 2021 (or March 2022, if you’re counting the deluxe edition), we’ve been buzzing for a new record! In the meantime, she’s given us songs like ‘HISTORY’ with Joel Corry, ‘Crazy What Love Can Do’ with David Guetta and Ella Henderson, and her recent solo single, ‘Heaven,’ which is a Bryan Adams cover.
If ‘Side Effects’ and ‘Heaven’ are any indication, this album is going to be everything to us. We’re so jealous of anyone who’s gonna get to hear these songs live on the festival circuit this year!
