Okay honeybees, pull up your bean bags and get cozy because we have to talk about Lilac Kings. One of our newest obsessions, Lilac Kings is the indie-emo band you should have your eye on. They’re churning out music that will be stuck in your head for the rest of your life. And their most recent release emphasizes the devastating fentanyl crisis spreading across America. Here at The Honey POP! we stand by all human beings, regardless of who or where they are in life. And this is an issue we hold very near and dear to our hearts.
‘Sudafed Sun Daze’ talks about the fear surrounding death, or even just the energy of fear that lingers surrounding death’s inevitability. Dylan McBride, Lilac Kings’ lead singer, said that he wanted the song to be something that each listener could submerge themselves in. “…to be experienced by the listener from their own perspective and dances with death.” The track also pushes listeners to reflect on the ongoing fentanyl epidemic, as well as its impact on countless individuals and communities every day.
This subject is something that is very important to us as we’ve lost a lot of friends along the way and we are striving to help make a difference on whatever scale that may be.

Fentanyl took over 109,000 lives just in 2022 alone. It’s also something that not everyone is as open to discussing to the degree it needs to be. We love that Lilac Kings are doing what they can to start meaningful conversations about the issue. And we really love how they’re pushing fans to educate themselves further. Dylan went on to say “It’s a synthetic opioid that’s 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine… Starting immediately, we will have FREE Narcan and Fentanyl test strips at our merch tables. We will also have info on 988 and how to use it.”
Truly proving that the best things come in threes, Lilac Kings absolutely crushed it with this release.
