Since its release, ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ by Bonnie Tyler has been a classic. You’ve heard it in movies and on popular TV shows. We’d even bet you’ve belted it out during karaoke a time or two. That’s why it’s no surprise to us that it just reached one billion streams. Yes, you heard us right. That’s a billion… with a B!
‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ – Bonnie Tyler
‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ was featured on her smash fifth studio album, Faster Than The Speed of Night, which came out in 1983. Now a staple of pop culture, we’re so excited that Bonnie has released her 40th edition vinyl so we can hear the magic over and over! While we wait for it to be delivered, we’ll get our fix of the original and some of our favorite ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ covers!

Westlife
Maybe it’s the recent boyband fever in the air, but we’d stand to say Westlife has given us our favorite popular ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ cover so far. It could be the harmonies, or it could be the soft piano in the background… most likely, it’s the boyish charm they breathe into the track. Whatever it is, Westlife is at the top of our list!
The GLEE Cast
If there was one thing GLEE knew how to do, it was make a conversation-worthy cover. While we could get into debates on whether or not they matched up to the original (or even stood a chance at all,) the cast wowed us with their passionate and heartfelt rendition of Bonnie Tyler’s masterpiece.

Even though this season aired years ago, we won’t ruin the identity of the Tree for you. What we will say, though, is that this cover earned its way into the top three with powerful vocals and stage presence (even dressed as a giant steel Christmas tree!)
