What We Know About FLETCHER’s In Search Of The Antidote

What we know is that FLETCHER’s sophomore album, In Search of the Antidote, is all we’ve ever needed. But because we religiously follow everything she does, we know plenty more too. And we’re here to catch you up!

‘Eras of Us’

We’ve had the privilege of seeing FLETCHER in each of her eras. So when she started this one with ‘Eras of Us,’ we knew she was onto something. FLETCHER has changed a lot since her debut back in 2016, but she has never let us down. ‘Eras of Us’ was no exception. Maybe it’s because we’re sluts for her lower register. Or the cinematic feel of the second half of the song. Either way, she had us addicted to this album one song in.

Antidote Easter Eggs

We knew something was up weeks before the announcement of In Search of the Antidote. After weeks of leading us on with teasers on social media, she finally gave us a release date for ‘Lead Me On.’ And she didn’t stop there. Clues were hidden everywhere as fans scrambled to find the large posters, displaying one letter each at the coordinates she posted. Together, they spelled “Antidote,” which she revealed with the album title. If you’re wondering, no, we were not able to drive across the country to participate in her scavenger hunt. And no, we’re not at all jealous of those who did.

As if this wasn’t enough, FLETCHER made sure all eyes were on In Search of the Antidote. She posted a lyric along with every coordinate. Through our detective work, (screenshotting her Instagram stories) here’s what we’ve pieced together from the album so far:

“I was made to find you.” “Launch me into your sky, remind me I’m alive.” “Do I regret it now that we don’t talk? Yes.” “I told every one of my friends, you won’t get a lyric again.” “Where is she now?” “I think she’s out of my league and I’m out of my mind.” “I’m burning down my world again, just because.” “As if I’m not what you’re waiting for.” And we couldn’t forget this post, which features what seems to be a speech that goes with the album.

Give us the album now, please.

‘Lead Me On’

“Your something is better than nothing at all.” This lyric confirms our suspicions: this album is everything we need. The build-up to the end of the song confirms that In Search of the Antidote needs to be the soundtrack to a lesbian rom-com. Then there’s the music video, which follows her signing bodies (a signature of FLETCHER’s concerts) and watching acrobats. Between this and the ‘Eras of Us’ music video, she’s putting together quite the cinematic universe for this era.
