Everybody knows and adores TEN; he is a household name in K-POP. Whether he’s your ult bias or not, he has an undeniable aura. TEN is such a unique idol, not just because of his personality or the fact he’s in beloved K-Pop groups like NCT and Wayv, but also because of his range of talents. February marks the release of TEN’s first solo mini-album (yes, it’s about time!) It’s appropriately self-titled and is quite the project if we say so ourselves. To celebrate the release, we’re showcasing ten things we adore about TEN, both the album and the artist!
TEN Is A Six Track Masterpiece!
In the era of ambiguity around how many songs a mini album often holds, TEN gave us a solid six-pack of songs. Each track brings a unique melody and vibe to the table. He’s provided us with a song for any moment, at any time of day, and it has us hooked from start to finish.
The Full English Project
TEN is from Thailand, and honestly, his language skills are nothing short of impressive. Seriously, he’s fluent in Thai, English, Korean, Mandarin, and Japanese (and probably more!) Meanwhile, we struggle to order a take-out in our native language over the phone without fumbling. With TEN being a full English album, it really shows his multi-linguistic confidence.
‘Nightwalker’
Of course, we must talk about the title track ‘Nightwalker.’ It’s genuinely hypnotizing! The track itself is a blend of rhymic and addictive beats with subtle bass and guitar riffs throughout. The song is about being irresistibly drawn to an alluring presence. Plus, it features TEN’s signature falsetto and infectious beats.
The Artistic ‘Nightwalker’ Music Video
The music video for ‘Nightwalker’ perfectly balances Western MV aesthetics and the K-POP influence. It features everything from seamless transitions, compelling storytelling, realistic backdrops, and cool choreography throughout, which keeps our eyes glued to the screen.
The Choreography
We know TEN can dance. When we mean dance, we mean dance. Yep, add this to his never-ending list of talents. Within the ‘Nightwalker’ music video, TEN brings that fierce energy in his moves across the bridge and into the final chorus. Honestly, it leaves us in awe every single time!
TEN Performance Film
Speaking of choreography, TEN put out a performance film to accompany the album. It adds another layer of artistry to the mix and truly showcases how well he can use dance to tell a story. The performance film begins slightly haunting, slightly spooky, but extremely captivating. Opening with ‘Water,’ he literally gluides with every move like water, extremely silky and smooth. It looks effortless, but we will leave that to the professional. The performance film also features choreography for songs like ‘Dangerous,’ which completely contrasts with ‘Water.’ Here, we see a more mature, sultry performance that truly fits the vibe of the song.
The Aesthetics
Whether sporting casual workwear to the office or rocking bold looks, he effortlessly pulls off so many aesthetics in the ‘Nightwalker’ music videos. His look is extremely versatile, and he plays into every character he portrays so well. From transparent coats to silver chrome trousers, his styling is so on point and is sure to set the new trends.
Mixing Genres in TEN
The album TEN by TEN (we just love saying that) explores many different genres. From ‘Water,’ with Latin pop vibes and nostalgic sounds reminiscent of the early 2000s, to ‘On TEN,’ which features a more hip-hop sound. TEN proves he can master any style of music with ease.
Lyrics That Cut Deep
Beyond the catchy beats across TEN, we love the deeper lyrics. For example, tracks like ‘Shadow’ use more of an eloquent approach to storytelling where TEN expresses the story of longing for a former lover and reminiscing on the memories. The lyrics across the album add that extra depth, which leaves a lasting effect.
The Physical Album
Are you a K-Pop collector? Because we sure are! And we’ve added TEN to our shopping carts. The sleek physical album features editorial-style images, which, in our humble opinion, would be perfect for the cover of Vogue. You can choose the ‘On TEN’ version, which has those sporty but sophisticated vibes. Perhaps the ‘Light On’ version is more your style as it offers brighter concept images, which are some of our favorites.
TEN (both the album and the artist) are extraordinary. What do you adore about TEN? Let us know in the comments, or find us on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
