These Iconic Performances By RAYE Will Hype You Up For Her BRITs Takeover

2023 really was that year for RAYE. After going independent, the British singer-songwriter went viral with her song, ‘Escapism,’ which bagged her first number-one single in the UK. She also released her highly anticipated and long-awaited debut album, My 21st Century Blues. After such a successful year, RAYE has kick-started her 2024 with more success as she received a whopping seven nominations at this year’s BRITs, the most received by any artist in one year.

Now it’s been announced the superstar will be performing at this year’s ceremony, and we are so hyped! She will be joining fellow British pop icon Dua Lipa, who was the first artist announced for this year’s lineup. As we countdown to the biggest night in British music and potentially the most important night of her career to date, let’s get hyped with some of these iconic RAYE performances.

‘Escapism’ Live At Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball 2023

RAYE rounded off her phenomenal year at Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball in December. Donning a stunning white dress with her band in matching suits, the songstress had the crowd captivated with her viral single that certainly soundtracked 2023. Just watch her as she dominates the stage, truly feeling the moment and utterly thriving!

‘The Thrill Is Gone’ Live At Mercury Prize 2023

RAYE was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize 2023, and although she just missed out on winning, she still absolutely dazzled at the awards. She gave a soulful performance of ‘The Thrill Is Gone’ that proved her vocals are truly unmatched. From the flow switch up to the little bit of scatting, this funk-filled performance reminded everyone that you don’t need an award to prove you are at the top of the game. RAYE is thriving regardless, and nothing can stop her!

RAYE Tiny Desk Concert

The Tiny Desk Concert is a perfect way to experience your faves as they give an intimate performance. The 21-minute video truly centers on RAYE’s raw vocals and capabilities as she performs songs from her debut album, which was seven years in the making. The four-song set gives us that stripped-back performance from our jazz queen and we could truly appreciate her incredible talent.

‘Ice Cream Man’ Live At Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Having gained so much success as an independent artist, RAYE has given a few performances state-side, and she absolutely blew us away with ‘Ice Cream Man’ on Jimmy Kimmel Live! This time RAYE proved she is a multitalented queen as she played the piano and bared her soul with this personal song that heartbreakingly resonates with so many people. While we adore hearing viral hits like ‘Escapism,’ songs like this are so important to also get their spotlight and we were truly floored with this performance.

‘Oscar Winning Tears’ Live At The Voice UK

RAYE performed on the final of The Voice UK and truly delivered with ‘Oscar Winning Tears.’ The performance proved that soul and jazz truly showcase her strong and resonant vocals best (though don’t get it twisted; RAYE is no one-trick pony when it comes to genres; she bodies them all.) The live performance truly proved that RAYE lives up to the studio version of any song, perhaps even better when on stage. She let us know her mic was on and that getting any ticket to see her in concert is worth every penny.

Catch RAYE live at the BRIT Awards 2023 on Saturday, March 2nd, on ITV1 and ITVX.
