Henry Moodie Paints Picture Perfect Scenes With ‘Beat Up Car’

HENRY MOODIE

Here at The Honey POP, Henry Moodie is our little gem. Why? It’s his charming songs, relatable lyrics, gentle voice, and social media success that make him undeniably special to us. The list is endless, and if we had to add one more thing about the British singer-songwriter we love, it’d be his latest heartfelt release, ‘Beat up car.’

‘Beat up car’ is a beautiful blend of Henry’s signature delicate vocals on an infectious beat that feels like the soundtrack to our favorite coming-of-age film. That’s the thing about Henry Moodie: he has the power to allow us to visualize any song with ease; whether it’s a fan favorite like ‘Drunk text’ or a new song like ‘Beat up car.’ It’s so easy to picture the scenes Henry sings about. Perhaps it’s his masterful storytelling that truly allows our imaginations to be free and transport us to a world of nostalgia.

Henry described the song as a story of longing and escapism, where you turn to people you love to make life feel a little less scary. Those beautiful people in our lives remind us about the beauty of life itself.

The Picture Perfect Scene

As Henry himself expressed, the cinematic feel of this track is one you can’t ignore. And it’s got our minds racing about all the scenes it would pair well with on the screen. In fact, we’re officially campaigning for Henry Moodie to be featured on the soundtrack of the next coming-of-age blockbuster, no objections necessary.

The lyrics themselves tell the story. The track opens with verses full of relatable reminders like “time won’t stop,” “seasons change,” and “life flies by.” Henry lists all the things we lack control over. He then sings about a desire to get away, even in a ‘Beat up car,’ to find the beauty of life again when these uncontrollable parts feel a little too daunting. Henry then builds the picture of two people finding a new purpose together in life.

Picture this: you’ve just worked through a turbulent time; maybe work is stressing you out, exams are looming, reality is hitting a little too hard, and it’s scary. But you’re lucky enough to have someone (a friend, romantic interest, favorite artist) or something (a film or a specific song) that transports you to a happy place. Visually, we see people running across open lavender fields or watching the sunset on an empty beach. It’s these scenes of beauty we imagine when listening to ‘Beat up car’ and why we’re instantly hitting repeat.
