Look, you know we always love giving you new music to listen to, and Tei Shi definitely deserves a spot on your playlist. Tei Shi has been releasing music since around 2015, with her first EP, Verde, which means Green to our non-Spanish speakers. People may have said she was green with her first EP, but she’s had such a raw talent right from the start, and everyone agreed. Now we have her new album, Valerie, which is filled with a mix of new and old tracks, and we’re in love.
Valerie
Valerie is a perfect example of not only Tei Shi, but a lot of other Latinx Valeries (like ourselves) out there as well. The tracks seem like a journey through life, through different situations and genres. It also has a good mix of Spanglish tracks, and we might be biased here, but sometimes songs in Spanish just sound so much better. Especially new songs that we haven’t heard before, like ‘Shooting Star,’ ‘You Go (I’ll Go),’ ‘Falling From Grace,’ and ‘Valerie.’

Each track holds a special place in our hearts, no matter if we have heard it previously. Because Tei Shi is simply killing it: from the lyrics to the beat to her lovely, lovely voice, each track, new or old, is honestly a 10/10. But between you and us, we do have a couple of favorites; we’re looking at you, ‘Valerie,’ ‘¿QUIÉN TE MANDA?’ ‘Shooting Star’ and ‘BAD PREMONITION.’ No, but seriously, we recommend checking out these tracks first, as well as the album as a whole, because this has to be our favorite project by the artist.
