This year’s Coachella has been a big one for Korean artists, with ATEEZ, LE SSERAFIM, and The Rose all on the line-up! Performing at the Outdoor Theatre on both Sunday nights, The Rose is the first Korean band to ever take to the Coachella stage. That might seem like a daunting task to some, but not to The Rose!
The Rose killed it on stage, as they always do. What’s more, is that their setlist choices were so smart! We reckon they basically couldn’t have made better picks, and here’s why.

‘Eclipse,’ ‘Shift,’ And ‘Lifeline (Reborn)’
We thought it when we saw The Rose on tour and we’re thinking it now: ‘Eclipse’ is the perfect opener. It builds gloriously, and the declaration of “I’m on my way,” is such a great way to set the tone for their set. ‘Shift’ and their latest single, ‘Lifeline (Reborn),’ honor this by adding ethereal, anthemic energy!
‘RED’ And ‘Back To Me’
Now that they’ve built the crowd up to euphoria, it makes sense that The Rose would turn to two of their biggest hits! We can vouch for it ourselves: few things feel better than shouting “I wanna be red,” and “I could make you mad, I could make you scream,” at the top of your lungs. The Coachella crowd should feel honored, honestly.
‘Definition of ugly is,’ ‘Alive,’ And ‘Cure’
Now we slow it down with ‘Definition of ugly is.’ If you’re a person who loves the moment in a show where it’s time to wave your phone flashlight, then this part is for you! It’s no less anthemic though! And that guitar solo? Deadly. The Rose continues to serve the Coachella crowd with ‘Alive’ and ‘Cure,’ two all-English tracks. And who doesn’t love when Dojoon gets to take center stage?

‘Sour,’ ‘Cosmo,’ And ‘Wonder’
Ok putting aside the fact that ‘Cosmo’ and ‘Wonder’ back-to-back is giving us Fairly Odd Parents, these three songs to close out The Rose’s Coachella set was such a smart move! ‘Sour’ always hits, and that cut just before the chorus is especially good live. The instrumental in ‘Cosmo’ makes it perfect for the final build-up in a set; it’s guaranteed to make you wanna jump. And then to hit Black Roses with fan favorite ‘Wonder’ as the finale? It’s equal parts genius and cruel. “Do you think there’s still a chance? May the people sing and dance?” Uh, only if they get to see The Rose live again!
