It’s no secret that we celebrate every flor release like it’s our birthday, and ‘Kick It’ is no exception. As we predicted, we love this song. And we’ll tell you exactly why. Quite simply, it’s a no BS track. We’re not playing around here, and neither is flor. They’ve decided that fearing the judging eyes of the public is just not something they’re interested in. Instead, they will be “kicking” those comments right back to the senders.
Not to mention the fact that flor has done it again in terms of sound too. Frankly, we could listen to ‘Kick It’ all day even without the lyrics. The energetic, playful style fits the carefree attitude so well, the lyrics are just a bonus!
Now that we’ve (hopefully) gotten you hooked on flor’s latest hit, we realize we’ve never had the chance to properly introduce you to some flor classics. If you love ‘Kick It,’ we encourage you to dive into the rest of this list.
‘Every Night’
How to describe ‘Every Night’ is a way that does it justice? We really don’t know that it’s possible; you have to let the song speak for itself. We’ll try our best, though. If we were to define flor by one song, we might have to pick this one. It’s lively. Cinematic. Fun. The lyrics about a manipulative relationship manage not to bring the mood of the song, making it feel almost triumphant. If “every night’s a war,” we’re pretty sure flor is winning.
‘No More Time’
Lyrically and sonically, ‘no more time’ is one of flor’s most creative songs. They throw you into the story with a thrilling guitar riff. There’s an urgency to this song to match the theme of time. “Just one life” and “no more time” are ideas they’re racing against. Along with their questions about love and life as a whole, flor perfects the art of making a listener question everything. And that’s what art is about, right? Right?
‘lmho’
Laying my heart out, or ‘lmho,’ is a much more uncertain song. While ‘Kick It’ is much more confident and ‘no more time’ is the opposite, ‘lmho’ is somewhere in between. “What can I say? Ain’t it enough that I’m laying my heart out?” He’s definitely still questioning something. But instead of the existential crisis vibe of ‘no more time,’ it’s more of a sarcastic tone. Like he’s already got it figured out.
‘Unsaid’
You’ll have to stick with us for this one. If you want a song with the easy confidence of ‘Kick It,’ we guess you’ll have to listen to ‘Kick It.’ Because this one is about wanting to tell someone about your feelings but deciding you’d be better off keeping it to yourself. But if you’ve been in this situation, maybe it ended up leading to something great. And then you can listen to it and remember how relatable it was. Or you can just trust that it’s one of their best songs and listen anyway.
‘Same Color As The Sun’
But wait! We weren’t going to leave you hanging without another positive one. This is probably the least similar to ‘Kick It’ in terms of sound. It’s much softer, but a love song is a lot happier than the songs we’ve been giving you. This one feels like love, like it’s impossible to sing without a smile on your face.
So there you have it! Some of flor’s best songs. And if you love ‘Kick It,’ these five will not fail you. You have our word. When you find your favorite, let us know over at @thehoneypop on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, or in the comments.
