We know this will come as no surprise to anyone who has ever seen us talk about Cassadee Pope, but we just love her! We feel like we have grown up with her and gotten to watch her come into her own with her music, which is more evident than ever here on Hereditary. This album is twelve songs full of Cassadee’s best work yet. And we simply had to break down our favorite tracks on this record!
Listen to Hereditary here!
‘Rom Coms’
We are pretty sure ‘Rom Coms’ is the song we have revisited the most outside of full album listen-throughs (which have been constant by the way!). It has us completely hooked. ‘Rom Coms’ is for those of us that grew up thinking any relationship we got in was going to mimic those we grew up seeing on screen in John Hughes movies and have had to realize the harsh truth since.
‘People That I Love Leave’
Every time we hear ‘People That I Love Leave,’ we are instantly transported back to the pop-punk music of the 2000s, those songs you would hear all over movie soundtracks, the classics. There is something so true to genre, yet undoubtably has Cassadee’s mark, with this track. An easy and immediate stand out! And it was a perfect choice to release before the record was out, as it really sets the sonic tone.
‘Capacity’
Truly, if we could only recommend one song on this album to a first time Cassadee Pope listener, ‘Capacity’ would be that song. There is no room for doubt that the pop-punk genre is alive and well when there are artists like Cassadee making music at this caliber.
