Cassadee Pope Opens Up With ‘People That I Love Leave’

Cassadee Pope is someone we love and know all too well over here at The Honey POP! Whether we’re talking about her pop-punk roots in Hey Monday, her jaw-dropping season on NBC’s The Voice, or countless country pop bangers, if we’re talking about Cassadee Pope, then we’re talking about one of our all-time favorite women.

‘People That I Love Leave’ marks Cassadee’s long-anticipated return to pop punk. Noting it as “an authenticity that I’ve never been able to tap into before now.” That authenticity shines through on this track in a way that makes us feel seen. Choosing to trust again after having that trust shattered in the past takes so much time and healing. Cassadee not only gets that in this track but brought the anxiety of it all to life in her new video.

This song describes the difficulties of letting someone love you when you’ve been hurt in the past. I wanted the music video to illustrate the scenarios of how when a guy gets too close, I have a tendency to self sabotage. I also wanted to include an intense, high energy performance sequence to drive home that frustration and anger that follows.

To add the icing to this Queen sized return to the scene, Cassadee also dropped a version of the track with none other than Jax. Jax is a powerhouse pop singer-songwriter on her own. So adding this to Cassadee’s magic means ‘People That I Love Leave (feat. Jax)’ is both equally amazing and absolutely added to our current hits playlist.
