‘I’m Not Getting Better’ Proves Marianas Trench Just Keeps Getting Better

A third Marianas Trench single has hit streaming and oh, did we pray for times like these. ‘I’m Not Getting Better’ follows ‘Lightning And Thunder’ and ‘A Normal Life,’ Marianas Trench’s first releases since 2019, and it’s everything we love about MT. We’ve missed having new music from them so getting 3 brand new singles in the year 2024 is so important to us. We can’t wait to hear what a new album is going to sound like!

‘I’m Not Getting Better’

Like we said, ‘I’m Not Getting Better’ really captures why we love Marianas Trench so much. Their production has always been amazing and it puts them in a league of their own and ‘I’m Not Getting Better’ is no exception. This track is pure synth pop goodness with a catchy hook that will get stuck in your head. Their entire discography is full of earworms like we’re getting with this track and ‘I’m Not Getting Better’ is taking its rightful place among the rest. It’s a really fun, upbeat way of talking about not being able to stay away from things (or people) you know you probably should avoid.

“I know by the sound by the sound you make
You’ve been around cause your heartbeat keeps me awake
I know I should stay I should stay away
So what?
Maybe I’m not getting better“

Hey, we’ve all been there right? We love the lyricism of the track too and how it’s crafted to tell the story.

“I made a deal with myself that I’m keeping
This time it’s real one last dance and I’m gone
My lips are sealed sights set on leaving
You know what
I think I might be getting better”

The decisiveness of getting better in the first verse eventually gives away to “maybe I’m not getting better” and “who said I was getting better?” and we just love the juxtaposition it creates. It really captures the idea of not being able to stay away from something when it’s bad for you.

But Is There A Setlist Spot?

Marianas Trench is embarking on the Force Of Nature tour SO soon and we really hope we get to hear ‘I’m Not Getting Better’ on the setlist, along with our older faves too. If we had to guess, all 3 singles will likely make an appearance on the setlist. If you wanna see if our prediction comes true, be sure to grab your tickets ASAP.
