Predicting Special Guests During Kendrick Lamar’s Halftime Super Bowl LIX Performance

The NFL and Apple Music just announced the most insane news ever. Kendrick Lamar will be headlining the Super Bowl LIX Halftime performance next year. To say we were surprised wouldn’t necessarily be true, it’s about time Kendrick took to the field! This performance is well overdue, and we’re so glad the NFL chose the right rapper for this iconic cultural moment.

We already know Kendrick will put on the show of a lifetime with hits like ‘HUMBLE,’ ‘Die Hard,’ and ‘DNA.’ But, we do wonder if he will bring out any special guests. The rapper is known for many amazing collaborations with artists like Rihanna and The Weeknd, so to say he will probably bring out other collaborators on the big day is no big prediction. 

Here are our top three artists we hope to see support Kendrick Lamar at the Super Bowl LIX.

SZA

One artist who never fails to put on a stunning show with stunning vocals is SZA. Obviously, she’s never one to ‘Snooze’ on, so we hope she pulls up on that football field! Kendrick and SZA’s iconic collaboration for Marvel’s Black Panther, ‘All The Stars,’ has over a billion streams on Spotify, so we know many people watching the game would be happy to hear the two perform this song live. The visuals would be everything, and there could even be a tribute to Chadwick Boseman.

Something in the universe shifted when this song was released, so it would be a major missed moment if this didn’t happen!

U2

We think this special guest would be a crowd-pleaser for all ages! U2 has some amazing hits and is pretty much adored by every generation. You can never go wrong with a U2 song, let alone a U2 special guest moment! Of course, we’d hope that the two musicians would play their song ‘XXX’ from the legendary DAMN album. Maybe U2 would show out and do a few of their own hits too, like ‘Beautiful Day’ or ‘One.’

J. Cole

We couldn’t end this article without stirring the post just a little bit. Although some may call us crazy, we may be on to something here. Both Kendrick Lamar and J.Cole are legendary rappers who have dominated the music industry for years. If Kendrick were to really make a statement, he’d bring out J.Cole. The energy would be insane, and if this happens, we may have to get a seat to the show ourselves. We could see the two rappers mashing up their hits with J.Cole’s ‘Work Out’ leading the encore.
