If there’s one thing that BTS’ eldest member, Jin, is gonna do, it’s make ARMY feel like everything is gonna be ok. Throughout his career, he’s made a conscious, loud effort to be a beacon of hope and relief for fans. Now he’s back from military service, and ahead of the release of his debut album, Happy, Jin has released ‘I’ll Be There.’
‘I’ll Be There’ is a perfect blend of old Jin and new Jin. It’s quintessential Jin in the sense that it’s rock-influenced, lyrically reassuring, and unashamedly fun, but the track shows his growth in every aspect, too! Let us break down the old and new for you now.
Sonic Direction
In another life, we’re convinced Jin would be an iconic frontman for a glam rock band. He always suits rock concepts so well, and ‘I’ll Be There’ is no exception. This time though, he does try something new, giving us rockabilly vibes. The song is so catchy that we guarantee it’ll be stuck in your head after just the first listen.

Lyrics
Whether it’s his solo work, his discography as a member of BTS, or any other content, Jin always has a comforting presence. Songs like ‘Moon’ have been dedicated to his goal of being a safety net for ARMY, and ‘I’ll Be There’ is no different!
The parallels between ‘The Astronaut,’ released two years(!!) ago, and ‘I’ll Be There’ aren’t lost on us either. The lyrics “When I’m with you, there is no one else” and “I’ll stay the same; I’ll be there for you,” bookending Jin’s military enlistment, is so sweet.
Music Video
The music video is classic Jin too, by which we mean it’s super fun and laidback. Jin looks like the archetypal rockstar, face piercings and all! The dancing crowd (and double denim!) is reminiscent of the ‘Permission To Dance’ music video, and the energy is just as liberated. We’ve missed Jin so much, but something about his air guitar playing has just made us infinitely fonder.
