STAYC Are (So) Back With Their Newest Single ‘GPT’

It hasn’t been too long since STAYC invaded our playlist with new bangers with Metamorphic, and our girls are already back! Metamorphic was quirky and cheeky, all about exploring new sounds and extending what we already loved about them, but their single album …I, is all about stripping everything down, going back to their roots, and giving us two perfect songs for the end of fall and the beginning of winter. STAYC can nail any concept, and they have proved it once again with this release!

‘GPT’

Starting with a magical atmosphere, ‘GPT’ is the perfect combination of a vintage atmosphere, a fresh sound, and fun and addictive melodies. With the lyrics, the song explores a complex story of unrequited love and waiting around for someone. It clashes entirely with the feeling of the melody, making the lyrics even more heartbreaking. ‘GPT’ feels simple, soft, cozy, and comfortable, all while the girls serve gorgeous vocals.

One of the best things about this release is that we also got the acapella version of ‘GPT.’ STAYC have had some of the most interesting vocals since day one, and finally having a track that highlights that strength, along with their harmonies, feels like a blessing. This version is almost as addictive as the original. And the cinematography, aesthetic, and storyline in the music video of ‘GPT‘ make the song even more special and dear to us. Everything about ‘GPT’ is perfection.

‘Meant To Be’

The single album wasn’t just about ‘GPT,’ though. STAYC also gave us a gorgeous B-side: ‘Meant To Be.’ ‘GPT’ was already somehow reminiscent of their older sound, but ‘Meant To Be’ could easily fit among the B-sides of YOUNG-LUV.COM. The RnB energy mixed with soothing, soft vocals creates an atmosphere unique to STAYC. It feels elegant and smooth yet sweet, a mix that STAYC excels at. It also follows that theme of falling for someone and wanting that person to love you back. ‘Meant To Be’ is the perfect last drop of magic to make this comeback even more special, and with two songs, …I already made its mark in our hearts.
