Following their recent record release, Blue Hour, Illinois-based pop punk band, Real Friends embarked on a national tour and we got to see them in Santa Ana. The band switched over from a big-name label to being independent back in August and we couldn’t be more proud of them.
As described on the band’s Instagram story, ‘Blue Hour’ symbolizes all the different chapters of a person’s life that are not only coming to an end but also the joyous ones that are soon to come. At this show, we felt that exact connection with the band and everyone else in the room as we angrily finger-pointed and screamed lyrics, but also cried alongside one another to those songs (you know the ones).
The band not only sang some of their singles off the new album but also tugged at our heartstrings with old favorites such as ‘Me First,’ ‘Six Feet,’ and ‘Tell Me You’re Sorry.’ The vibes inside The Observatory were so immaculate that Cody Muraro couldn’t help but crowd surf and jump into the crowd to sing a few songs with us.
We couldn’t have asked for a better night with such an incredible band. The night was filled with so much dancing and singing since we all know and love those sad songs with upbeat, catchy melodies that kinda make us forget about all the hurt we have inside.
Cody, Kyle, David, Eric, and Brian — we can never thank you enough for the show you put on for us and for the way you make your fans feel like a real family. (See what I did there?)
