We loved how relatable Bel was, and it kept us rooting for her from the beginning. In addition to the mystery, The Reappearance of Rachel Price also dives into what justice really means and complex family dynamics. We just had to know what would happen next!

Looking for Smoke by K.A. Cobell is a thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat! This multiple-POV story follows a group of teenagers who are under suspicion after one teen is murdered and another goes missing. Looking for Smoke crafts a compelling and complex murder mystery while also discussing the Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women movement. We highly recommend picking up the audiobook, which was very well-produced!

Death At Morning House By Maureen Johnson
Another one of our favorite mysteries of 2024 is Maureen Johnson’s newest release, Death at Morning House! There are two mysteries involved in this book: one from 1932 and one in the present. Marlowe Wexler finds a summer job giving tours at Morning House, where she uncovers a secret that’s been hidden for decades. Even though she isn’t a detective, her love of brainteasers and killer instincts (pun intended) help her solve both murder mysteries like a pro.

Heist Royale By Kayvion Lewis
Our next favorite 2024 thriller is Heist Royale by Kayvion Lewis, the sequel to her explosive debut novel, Thieves’ Gambit! Ross Quest finds herself in a new gambit, playing for her life and the entire Quest family. We enjoyed every second of this thriller, from the dangerous mission in Antarctica to the unpredictable casino heist. Plus, it also helped that we see a familiar cast of supporting characters return in this novel to help Ross succeed in each heist.

Dead Below Deck By Jan Gangsei
Rounding out our list of top five thrillers and mysteries is Jan Gangsei’s Dead Below Deck. A murder mystery told in reverse chronological order, we follow the main character Maggie trying to prove her innocence in the murder of her friend Giselle. Four girls’ spring break trip ends with a missing heiress and blood on someone’s hands. The best part is that everyone on the yacht has a motive for killing Giselle. But who would’ve taken the risk? We bet you won’t see the twist ending coming!
