It’s that time again! We are back and better than ever with the best of what’s new in music! From the new Jensen McRae track, to the Selena Gomez x Benny Blanco collab album, it’s a stacked list!
Jensen McRae – ‘Savannah’
If you’re a longtime fan of Jensen McRae like we are, then we are sure that you’ve noticed this as well: the songwriting on the tracks we’ve gotten from Jensen’s upcoming album has truly been her best to date. You can see the growth and can feel the shift in how emotions are expressed and sung. ‘Savannah’ may be the best example of this. There is a full-circle nature to ‘Savannah,’ to coming around to a place that screams heartbreak, with a new love.

Jonah Marais – ‘Better Place’
Let us just say, as fans who have followed Jonah Marais since the ‘War Paint’ era, the music that he is currently releasing, like ‘Better Place,’ feels so true to self. We feel like we are watching Jonah completely come into his own as an artist and find his individual sound, which we are sure was hard to carve out after being in a band and having to create a sound that wasn’t strictly focused on Jonah’s sound. If what’s to come is following the path of creative growth that we have already seen here in ‘Better Place,’ then we are all in for a treat.

Mt. Joy – ‘Coyote’
Mt. Joy has been putting out music since 2016 and, truly, has yet to put out a dud. From ‘Astrovan’ to now with ‘Coyote,’ Mt. Joy has mastered a sound that is so distinctly theirs, and that we are one hundred percent sure we will never get tired of. There is pure serotonin pumped into ‘Coyote’ for us. We want to be driving with the windows down during the summer with this song blaring as loud as humanly possible.

Noah Cyrus – ‘Don’t Put It All On Me’ (ft. Fleet Foxes)
Noah Cyrus is one of those artists that we recommend to everyone who is looking for a new artist to check out. Both of her albums and every droplet in between, are flawless. ‘Don’t Put It All On Me’ showcases many of the things that we would consider to be Noah’s greatest strengths as an artist. You have these soft, angelic vocals that flow seamlessly with both the voice of Fleet Foxes and the ambiance the backing track is crafting. Listening to this track over and over while writing this has made us realize we are more than ready for another full-length project from Noah Cyrus.

Selena Gomez & Benny Blanco – I Said I Love You First
I Said I Love You First is going to be one of the albums that everyone has on repeat this summer! Mark our words! This album is incredibly nuanced and feels like such a throwback to so much of the music that Selena was making a few years back. You have songs like ‘Sunset Blvd’ that feel sun-soaked and feature the “whisper pop” we know and love, and then you have the ‘Nothing New’-esque ‘Younger And Hotter Than Me,’ which takes a look at a fear that so many people, especially women, face of feeling like there will always be a younger and hotter person taking your place. Benny and Selena did such a beautiful job on this record, exploring so many avenues of both of their creative strengths.

Jon Bellion – ‘WASH’
Jon Bellion is back, and all is right in the (musical) world. ‘WASH’ is the comeback single we were wishing and hoping for. Everything we have loved for years about Jon Bellion as an artist was elevated and brought forth on this track. We loved the Oasis ‘Wonderwall’ reference and have been singing this song to ourselves since our first listen. We can’t wait to hear what’s next.

Jenna Raine – ‘Good Grief’
Jenna Raine is the feel-good artist everyone needs on their playlists. If you’re fresh out of a breakup, ‘Good Grief’ is the exact track you are going to want to turn on and up. ‘Good Grief’ is all about how everything eventually comes around and how one day you will laugh thinking back on the things that, in the moment, feel so devastating. We all could use this breath of fresh air that infuses levity into a situation that desperately needs it.

MARINA – ‘CUPID’S GIRL’
‘CUPID’S GIRL’ instantly brought us back to early Marina music; we were transported back to middle school dancing around the room and listening to ‘How To Be A Heartbreaker.’ MARINA is an artist who has always managed to both evolve and keep a sonic pattern that fans have come to love. ‘CUPID’S GIRL’ is the best example of both of those artistic qualities.

Mae Muller – ‘Breakaway’
One thing about Mae Muller: she is going to make a hit! Mae Muller is an artist who should be on every person’s radar; her entire discography makes us want to dance around any room we happen to be in. ‘Breakaway’ is going to be one of those songs that at any given point during the summer we will be listening to. We have a feeling that clubs everywhere are going to join us and will be soundtracking so many people’s nights out with ‘Breakaway.’

David Archuleta – ‘Créme Brulée’
We are ending this week’s new music round-up with an artist that we are positive you know and love, David Archuleta! If you haven’t done yourself a favor and dove into the newer music David has put out, allow ‘Créme Brulée’ to be your gateway! ‘Créme Brulée’ is a true Troye Sivan-esque dance track.
