Congrats to all MOAs, who are getting to enjoy SOTY before we’re even halfway through 2025. 4th Gen It Boys TXT are back with their digital single ‘Love Language,’ and once again, THP’s MOAs have been sent into the stratosphere.
Released at the perfect time to become the song of the summer, there are plenty of reasons for you to love ‘Love Language!’ In fact, there are so many reasons, we decided to break each one down for you. And, because we love to spoil our fellow MOA just as much as TXT do, we’ve also created a playlist for you, based on what you love about ‘Love Language’ the most! Bonus points if you send this to your non-MOA friends as an introduction to TXT’s discography.
The Aesthetic
Could this music video be any more gorgeous? Filmed in Spain during TXT’s first Europe tour, we would almost assume it was in Italy with how much it’s giving us Call Me By Your Name vibes, especially when Soobin is at the breakfast table reading the red ‘Love Language’ book. We love the glimpses of TXT’s humor that we get too, with how they break the fourth wall (of a beautiful Mediterranean villa).
Your TXT Playlist: ‘Dreamer’ and ‘Blue Hour’
If this is your favorite element of ‘Love Language,’ then these are our recs! Even though ‘Blue Hour’ is about the time just before sunset, and this track is as sunny as it gets, there are a lot of parallels in the styling! Yes, obviously we are referring to those crop tops (eek!), but the 90s nostalgia and denim are so ‘Blue Hour’ too. ‘Dreamer’ always reminds us of the minisode 3 trailer, which had the same hazy, golden hour feel to it. And writing about it here gives us another chance to campaign for the release of ‘Dreamer (Acoustic Version).’
The Vocals
Ok, Soobin main rapper era?! We could not be more obsessed with his lower register in ‘Love Language,’ a gorgeous element of TXT’s diverse vocals across this song. The singing oscillates between smooth satin and refreshing sunshine, and what TXT song would be complete without Yeonjun and Taehyun absolutely demolishing us with their adlibs?
Your TXT Playlist: ‘Magic’ and ‘Danger’
If your fave thing about ‘Love Language’ is the bright vocals, then let us reacquaint you with TXT’s first-ever English track, ‘Magic.’ Sometimes the answer to “What’s your love language?” is simply, “If you’ve got a broken heart, just take a chance.” And if you’re obsessed with Soobin’s verses, first of all: get in line. Second: make sure you check out Sanctuary b-side ‘Danger’ for plenty more of TXT’s lower register.
The Genre/Production
We weren’t expecting TXT to drop an Afro-house anthem, but that’s the thing about TOMORROW X TOGETHER: there isn’t a genre they’re afraid to try, and they excel at each and every one of them. This time around, TXT try their hands at Afro-house and they pull it off, seemingly effortlessly. Because of course they do. The bright, engaging instrumental is irresistible, and we reckon this song will continue to just get more and more recognition as we head into summer.
Your TXT Playlist: ‘Our Summer,’ ‘I’ll See You There Tomorrow,’ and ‘No Rules’
Now, this mini playlist was by far the easiest to offer you, as TXT and BIGHIT MUSIC themselves pointed these out as references. ‘Our Summer’ might be better known as a cutesy encore song, but in fact, its roots are in the house genre. Similarly, ‘No Rules’ (which is still one of their best choreos, BTW), is noted for its fun anarchy but is also filled with funk and groove inspo. 2024’s ‘I’ll See You There Tomorrow’ was – deservedly – inescapable, and started off a huge wave of house influence in K-Pop last year.
The Choreography
Honestly, it’s hard to even know where to begin when it comes to this choreography. We’re left speechless, which makes our job – talking about music – kinda difficult. Bear with us as we do our best…
Is it just us, or do TXT say nearly every comeback that this is their hardest choreography yet? It’s almost like they level up, time and time again! From props to unit breaks to whatever it is that happens in the last chorus (we have blocked it from our minds and cannot discuss it), there’s so much to unpack in the performances of ‘Love Language.’
Your TXT Playlist: ‘We’ll Never Change,’ ‘Back For More,’ and ‘Can’t We Just Leave The Monster Alive?’
First of all, let’s highlight how seamless TXT’s prop work always is. Soobin’s glasses in ‘Love Language’ is just the latest iteration of this skill, so if you keep replaying that part of the choreography, you need to be watching ‘Back For More’ and ‘We’ll Never Change,’ too. TXT’s playfulness with their jackets in ‘Back For More’ is great, but honestly, the ribbons in ‘We’ll Never Change,’ which is criminally underrated BTW, make it easily one of our favorite TXT choreographies to watch.
And if you’re obsessed with the brightness of the ‘Love Language’ performances, we need you to check out ‘Can’t We Just Leave The Monster Alive?’ too. It’s so bouncy and refreshing and was one of the first TXT songs to showcase their energy on stage.
Also, an honorary mention to ‘Tinnitus.’ You know why. We’re still not gonna talk about it though.
The Lyrics
First of all, we obviously have to talk about Huening Kai’s contributions. TXT’s youngest member has co-writing credits on ‘Love Language,’ and it’s been revealed that he came up with, “I want to speak ‘you’,” and “I want to know your language,” two really key lyrics! Especially the first, which is the final line of the chorus. We instantly gravitated toward that line, and knowing it was written by one of the members just makes it even sweeter. Overall, the ‘Love Language’ lyrics are so joyous, hopeful, and universally relatable.
Your TXT Playlist: ‘Deja Vu’ and ‘Miracle’
Released almost exactly a year apart, ‘Deja Vu’ and ‘Love Language’ might not sound too similar on first listen. Where ‘Love Language,’ is brightness encapsulated in an audio file, ‘Deja Vu’ is all about yearning. However, if you’re falling head over heels for all the declarations TXT make in ‘Love Language,’ then you’ll adore the promises in ‘Deja Vu’ just as much.
The first time we read the ‘Love Language’ lyrics, the line, “Even the slightest brush of hands,” immediately jumped out, reminding us of “It’s okay if things go wrong, right?, You’ll hold my hand,” from ‘Miracle.’ ‘Miracle,’ from the same album as ‘Deja Vu,’ is about a very different kind of adoration – the members love for each other – but is equally as sweet as can be.
