P!nk is a singer and songwriter whose music is a mixture of pop and rock. When she was a teenager, she was part of two groups. The first was Basic Instinct, while the second was Choice. While we could talk all about that, that’s not what we’re here for. P!nk’s career as a solo artist started in the early 1990s when she released her debut single, ‘There You Go,’ in 2000. It became clear she was destined for the music world as a solo artist when the song was released.
P!nk has found immense success throughout the decades. She has had hit albums, songs, and beautiful music videos. As of July 2024, she has released nine studio albums, fifty-two music videos, six compilation albums, and a live album. She made her mark on the industry in many ways, including creating relatable and uplifting songs. Common themes in her music include empowerment, relationships, breakups, healing, and reflection.
Her latest release was a live tour album titled TRUSTFALL (Tour Deluxe Edition), released December 1, 2023. A few months prior, she released her ninth album, TRUSTFALL. She has about twenty-five years as a solo artist, and we don’t think she’ll stop anytime soon. Whether she does or she doesn’t, we’re here to bring you ten songs by P!nk for your playlist needs.
How about we ‘get the party started’?
‘Most Girls’
“But I’m not every girl, and I don’t need that world to validate me”
Most girls want someone, a significant other, who’s going to provide for them, and most girls want someone who shows them what it’s like to be loved. The first song on our list is ‘Most Girls’ from her first album, Can’t Take Me Home. The song is about P!nk not wanting or needing a man to do anything for her because she has her own. The song explores themes of independence, breaking stereotypes, and empowerment.
If there’s one thing we love here at The Honey POP, it’s a song that makes us feel empowered. We’re no longer letting others validate us, especially not when it comes to relationships. Validate yourself. We know it can be hard sometimes, but that’s the beauty of having empowering music to help us out.
A playlist about empowerment or feminism would suit this song well.
‘Respect’ (feat. Scratch)
“Sista’s (Yeah)
It’s time to be greedy
Nothing good comes for free”
We’re still on the empowerment train with this one. P!nk and Scratch were in their bags when they created ‘Scratch’ off the Mussunderztood album. The song explores themes of assertion, being unapologetic, and respect. The song calls for women to come together and stand together against disrespectful men, whether it’s by catcalling women, thinking they’re easy to get with, etc.
The song is still relevant today, as there are men in society who tend to think women can easily be swayed by their words and actions. It wasn’t cute then, it’s not cute now, and it won’t be cute in the future. Women, in the words of P!nk, “Let ’em know it ain’t easy, R-E-S-P-E-C-T.”
A playlist about bad b*tch energy or self-worth would suit this song well.
‘God Is a DJ’
“If God is a DJ, life is a dance floor
Love is the rhythm
You are the music“
Who here is a music fan? Everyone reading this should have their hands up, either physically or in their mind. We had to put this Try This song on our list. It was a must. ‘God Is a DJ’ explores the themes of living in the moment, freedom, and one of our favorite things, music. The song finds P!nk, metaphorically speaking, saying that life is one big dance floor, ‘God is the DJ,’ and everyone is the music that’s being played. She also sings about being yourself unapologetically and not caring what others think about you.
‘God Is a DJ’ is one of P!nk’s most underrated songs yet. Fun fact: the song was part of the soundtrack for Mean Girls. Very fitting! Remember, Honey Bees, “you take what you get, and you get what you give.”
A playlist about music or living your best life would suit this song well.
‘Conversations With My 13 Year Old Self’
“Come over here and let me hold your hand and hug you, darling
I promise you that it won’t always feel this bad“
Most of us wish we could go back and talk to a younger version of ourselves. While we can’t do it, we can always imagine what it would be like if we did. Some people write letters to their younger selves, but P!nk? She wrote a song called ‘Conversations With My 13 Year Old Self.’ The song explores themes of healing, self-growth, and hope. The intimate song finds the singer singing to her younger self, letting her know that even though she’s going through things, things will get better, even if it isn’t right away.
When people look back at being 13, many could probably say it was a hard time for them. It’s a time when they were beginning their teen years, going through puberty, and dealing with their last year of middle school (intermediate or secondary school). While P!nk sings to her younger self, many people can relate to the song, as they’ve probably gone through a phase where they were angry at the world, became heartbroken, wished someone could hold their hand during moments they needed someone, etc. It serves as one of her most relatable songs in her discography.
A playlist about healing or compassion would suit this song well.
‘So What’
“So, so what? I’m still a rock star
I got my rock moves
And I don’t need you”
‘So What’ is a fun, energetic, and upbeat song that appears on P!nk’s album FUNHOUSE. The song explores themes of rebellion, independence, and empowerment. It’s the perfect song to put on when you’re going through a breakup and feeling petty or want something to rock out to. The song is about P!nk going through a breakup, where instead of being heartbroken and sad, she decides to celebrate her freedom as she remembers the rockstar she is. She’s angry at the ex and lets it be known by calling him out, letting it be known she’s doing well without him and isn’t afraid to rage.
A playlist about confidence or being unapologetic would suit this song well.
‘Raise Your Glass’
‘Raise Your Glass’ is a song for the underdogs, the overlooked, the outcasts, people who are told they’re “too much,” rule breakers, LGBTQIA+ people, and we could go on. The song explores themes of celebration, defiance, and individuality. It’s all about celebrating you and feeling free to live on your terms only. P!nk wants everyone who’s different or feels different from others to come together, be as loud as they can be, and stay true to themselves.
A playlist about inclusivity or self-acceptance would suit this song.
‘Try’
“Where there is desire, there is gonna be a flame
Where there is a flame, someone’s bound to get burned
But just because it burns doesn’t mean you’re gonna die
You’ve gotta get up and try, try, try”
‘Try’ is the third track on P!nk’s The Truth About Love album. The song explores themes of growth, heartbreak, and resilience. ‘Try’ is about reflecting on things that have happened in the past, and instead of getting up on something, finding a reason to try again. In this case, try again with love or something you enjoy doing. Life is sometimes about taking risks.
Sometimes life throws us curveballs when it comes to the things we want and desire, but what we do when it comes to the curveballs is equally important. We have the choice of either giving up completely or trying again. P!nK lets listeners get up, get out there, and try whether it’s their first time or they’re trying again.
A playlist about strength or breakups would suit this song well.
‘Revenge’ ft. Eminem
“We could do revenge, revenge, revenge
Revenge together, together, together
We could take revenge, revenge, revenge
Revenge is sweet (Oh-oh, revenge is sweet)“
A collaboration between P!nk and Eminem? It’s an amazing collaboration if you were to ask us. ‘Revenge’ explores themes of revenge, betrayal, and a toxic relationship. The song is about the feelings one goes through after being cheated on by their partner. The singer and rapper fantasize about getting revenge on their ex through sarcasm and satire. P!nk goes through the emotional toll from feeling hurt to being angry, while Eminem channels his aggression and chaos. It’s on brand with the music Eminem makes. The song is catchy, and while it’s about getting revenge, it’s a fun song at the end of the day.
A playlist about being petty or breakups would suit this song well.
‘Happy’
“Maybe I’m just scared to be happy”
All everyone truly wants in life is to be ‘Happy.’ Pink knows the feeling all too well, as she made a song about it. ‘Happy’ explores the themes of doubt, self-acceptance, and fear. Pink finds herself trying to navigate through her feelings. She doesn’t know why she can’t seem to be happy. She wishes she weren’t, but it’s hard for her to be that way. P!nk also reflects on when she was 17 and 22 during the song. Not everyone is comfortable discussing their feelings with others. It’s something many people know all too well. The song serves as a reminder to everyone who’s struggling with their happiness that they’re not alone.
A playlist about self-reflection or emotions would suit this song well.
‘Just Say I’m Sorry’ ft. Chris Stapleton
“Just say, “I’m sorry”
It’s not the hardest thing to do
Just say you’re wrong sometimes”
What do you get when a pop and country singer collaborate? In the case of ‘Just Say I’m Sorry,’ you get a beautiful and emotional ballad. ‘Just Say I’m Sorry’ is the thirteenth track on P!nk’s TRUSTFALL album and features Chris Stapleton. The song explores themes of accountability, pride, and resolving conflict. Oftentimes, couples have moments where they get into arguments. Sometimes they can be resolved, and other times one or both parties let their pride get in the way.
The song highlights moments where parties let their pride get the best of them. ‘Just Say I’m sorry’ points out how saying sorry can go a long way and help heal a relationship that’s broken or on the path to getting there. ‘Just Say I’m sorry’ is a constant reminder that there’s nothing wrong with admitting your fault in a situation, and apologizing is the first step to healing and repairing things.
A playlist about forgiveness or growth would suit this song well.
