TXT’s comeback is officially in full swing, so we’re back thinking, writing, and talking about them any chance we get! In a bit of a twist, TXT released the tracklist for The Star Chapter: TOGETHER as one of the first things on their comeback schedule. The preview opens with Yeonjun saying “I came back to life when you called my name. So now, I’ll call your name too,” which might have brought him back to life but promptly k-worded us.
Thanks to TXT releasing this earlier than expected, we have even more of a reason to cling to these short preview clips until we get to enjoy the full album in all its glory. And because we are super chill and lowkey about TXT here at The Honey POP, we just spent an inordinate amount of time matching up each track from The Star Chapter: TOGETHER with a color. It was a totally objective and not at all self-indulgent process. Enjoy!
‘Upside Down Kiss’
TXT love to throw us in the deep end with their opening tracks, don’t they? Co-written by Yeonjun, ‘Upside Down Kiss’ seems to be about wanting to be closer to someone even when you might be at odds. We love how passionate this song already sounds, hence why we think it matches the vibes of this gorgeous, rich purple.
‘Beautiful Strangers’
Time for the title track! You might think we cheated by matching this with a color very similar to The Star Chapter: TOGETHER’s tracklist graphics and the aesthetic of this era, but we didn’t! ‘Beautiful Strangers’ is described as a hip-hop track with a trap beat, and the searing guitar in the preview is stunning. Does mixing hip-hop and rock elements sound familiar to you? Well, that’s because that’s what TXT do best!
‘Ghost Girl’
The first of the solo songs! We have waited for the day that TXT would work with Yungblud for literal years. We already knew Yeonjun is a big fan, and like TXT, Yungblud is an absolute genius when it comes to genre-blending. With Yeonjun co-writing, and Yungblud co-writing and producing, we already know this is going to be a fave. The preview is kind of psychedelic both audibly and visually, so we had to go with this trippy blue-toned pink.
‘Sunday Driver’
Does anyone else suddenly have the sudden urge to drive along the coast in a convertible on a sunny day? No? Just us? Soobin’s solo is up next and even the title, ‘Sunday Driver,’ feels very Soobin-coded. He has such a warm energy, that comes through even in the short preview clip! With this reminding us so strongly of warm, summer days, we had to match it with a dreamy sky blue!
‘Dance With You’
Umm…who let the maknae do this? Was anyone else really caught off guard with the vibes of this?! If we’d had to guess, we’d have said Kai would give us a huge rock anthem for his solo track, along the lines of ‘Dear Sputnik,’ But no, he’s giving us a sensual Latin-pop-inspired moment and we’re already entirely obsessed with the lowered vocals in the chorus. With a song like this, it had to be a lush red.
‘Take My Half’
Ever heard the expression “A problem shared is a problem halved?” Well, that’s exactly the vibes we’re getting from Beomgyu’s solo ‘Take My Half’ so far. We love the distinct sound of indie producer Beomgyu, and this already feels like an extension of his solo single ‘Panic’ from earlier this year. Don’t both of them suit this burnt orange tone so well?!
‘Bird of Night’
Kang Taehyun is not only one of the best vocalists in K-Pop, but he’s one of the best vocalists, period. It seems like ‘Bird of Night,’ which Taehyun helped write and compose, will be the ballad on The Star Chapter: TOGETHER’s tracklist, and we can’t wait to hear more of his rich tone shine here. From the preview lyrics, we’re getting the vibe that this one is about late nights in the city and lying awake with your thoughts going a mile a minute, making it a perfect match for this decadent dark purple.
‘Song of the Stars’
The final track, ‘Song of the Stars’ is the one we’ve heard the most of so far, thanks to it appearing in the concept trailer for The Star Chapter: TOGETHER. This rock anthem was clearly designed for TXT and MOAs to chant along to together, so we already can’t wait for its inevitable appearance at ACT: TOMORROW. With the visuals from the concept trailer and the euphoric “Na Na Na”s, this one has to be a resplendent green.
So, there are our picks! TXT love to surprise us, so we can’t wait to get ripped to shreds when the album comes out and the vibes are totally different. But if we’re right, be prepared for us to say we told you so for a long, long time.
