With every YENA comeback, the whole world stops and only listens to her—and rightfully so. Every solo release she’s given us has taken over the internet, and LOVE CATCHER is far from being the exception. ‘Catch Catch’ has been everywhere since its release, and it’s with good reason. YENA gave us one of the best comebacks of the year yet with a catchy, recognizable sound that has everyone in a chokehold. And here’s why everyone is in love with it (including us).
‘Catch Catch’
YENA is no stranger to going viral; ‘Catch Catch’ isn’t her first time around the block. Yet, more than ever, everything about ‘Catch Catch’ is meticulously thought out to be the hit that it is. Every single aspect of this release is simply perfect, and YENA embodies it with every single note she sings, with every inch of her amazing outfits, too. ‘Catch Catch’ has a truly addictive video game-inspired production blended with an early-2000s club production.
The song fits her lively, high voice beyond perfection, and effortlessly highlights the unique sound she brings to the scene. The song is super fun and carefree, but it also allows YENA to showcase her vision as an artist and her vocals. The concept around ‘Catch Catch,’ with bright visuals and incredible retro styling, brings the song to life even more. Whether you listen to the song alone or watch the music video, everything about ‘Catch Catch’ is pure YENA perfection.
LOVE CATCHER
The hype around ‘Catch Catch’ is much deserved, and it doesn’t take away from all the amazing songs YENA put into creating this new mini-album. LOVE CATCHER features five songs that explore the themes of love in various forms. The first B-side, ‘Spring Fever,’ features DINDIN and Jung Hyung Don, who bring a lot of dynamism and depth to the song as their tones contrast completely with YENA‘s sweet high tone. The song follows the same energy and influences as the title track, but it’s more low-key and subtle, while still keeping that lively, fun energy. If you ever get tired of ‘Catch Catch’—which we don’t think is possible—you always have ‘Spring Fever’ to fall back on.
The last three songs are when YENA takes a different approach and showcases her versatility as an artist. ‘Sticker,’ featuring MRCH, is a perfect pop song, starting with only an acoustic guitar and her vocals, it explodes into an emotional, bittersweet song with melodies to die for. You can tell ‘Sticker’ tells a story from the first listen, and indeed the song touches on what it’s like to choose yourself and let go of someone you love who may have hurt you. ‘Sticker’ has that explosive pop energy that feels right out of a movie. And talking about movies, ‘April’s Cat’ has that perfect OST feel. This ballad puts love at the forefront, with magical melodies made even more special by YENA’s vocals.
LOVE CATCHER closes off with YENA and Paul Kim joining their talents in ‘Question Marks.’ This closing track takes a different route from any of the songs on the album but adds to the retro aesthetic with its bright, jazzy influence. The song really highlights both of their vocal attributes and provides a perfect closure for a mini-album that showcases so much ambition, talent, and artistic vision. YENA never misses, but she one-ups herself with this one. This comeback is, without a doubt, already shaping K-Pop in 2026.
