If you asked us to name an artist whose voice is truly timeless, then our pick would be the one and only Faouzia! She released her debut album, FILM NOIR, last November. More than six months later, and we still haven’t stopped replaying the entire album, by the way.
As Faouzia gets ready for her nearly sold-out FILM NOIR TOUR this summer, she’s blessed us with a new single! We’ve been getting ‘BIRTHDAY’ teasers for a couple weeks now, and we’re so glad it’s finally here. Along with the new release, we’re giving you a few more Faouzia songs we can’t wait to see her perform!
‘BIRTHDAY’
Of course, we had to start with the obvious: Faouzia’s new single, ‘BIRTHDAY.’ It carries the same energy as her FILM NOIR album. Faouzia sings about wasting her efforts and emotions on someone who could never appreciate or even acknowledge her. And while she was the one to give her ex the power, the status, and the gifts, he was the one who took all the credit for it. The tongue-in-cheek message hits especially close to home, and we’re like, “Alright, okay…Okay.”
‘UNETHICAL’
The next Faouzia song we’re dying to see on tour is ‘UNETHICAL!’ Arguably one of our favorite songs on FILM NOIR, we will never not belt ‘UNETHICAL’ whenever we hear it play. There’s something so cathartic about this track, and Faouzia’s delivery is everything to us. With lyrics like, “Waiting on a sorry / But you’re never sorry, are you?” it only makes sense that this song became so viral. We especially can’t wait to see the stage outfit and setup for this song on her upcoming tour.
‘DON’T EVER LEAVE ME’
Moving on down the iconic FILM NOIR album, we have ‘DON’T EVER LEAVE ME!’ The buildup to the chorus in this song is one of our favorites. And when that chorus hits, you can bet we’re letting everything out. Can we hit the right notes? Nowhere near as well as Faouzia can. Will you still hear us sing along to it? Absolutely! ‘DON’T EVER LEAVE ME’ also has a haunting quality to it that we’ve come to recognize as part of Faouzia’s signature sound.
‘PORCELAIN’
As Faouzia’s first independent single, ‘PORCELAIN’ is a staple to any future tour setlist! The piano intro alone is enough to wake us up. It’s a gentle yet heart-wrenching song about a toxic relationship that constantly leaves you broken. But then you finally find the strength to walk away because the pain of staying would hurt even more. We can already imagine Faouzia sitting on a stool or at a piano, playing a stripped-down version of this song, and letting her fans sing along with her on tour.
‘PRETTY STRANGER’
Last but certainly not least, we’re hoping to see Faouzia perform ‘PRETTY STRANGER!’ In our opinion, it’s one of the most underrated songs from her debut album. ‘PRETTY STRANGER’ would be the perfect closer for the concert. There won’t be a dry eye in the room after this song, guaranteed. We expect to leave the venue fully sobbing if we ever heard this live. From Faouzia’s angelic vocals to the brutally relatable lyrics, ‘PRETTY STRANGER’ stays with you long after the too-short song ends.
