It’s always a good day when any ASTRO member blesses us with new music, and a new comeback from Yoon Sanha after nearly a year since CHAMELEON was everything we needed. Sanha is back with his third mini-album, NO REASON, and he’s giving us everything we love about his music, along with some new fun elements that further establish him as a solo artist. With five incredible tracks, Sanha has won our whole hearts once again.
‘IDK ME’
‘IDK ME’ is the title track, and for a good reason. This song is everything so right about Sanha’s music and the uniqueness he brings to the industry. The bass and groove of ‘IDK ME’ lure you in just a few seconds, and Sanha‘s personality and aura make it such an infectious banger. The song shows a seductive, mature side of Sanha, but it’s also incredibly fun and catchy. And behind it all, the song explores embracing uncertainty and being okay with not knowing everything about oneself, and accepting it. It’s an optimistic look at growing up and finding yourself. ‘IDK ME’ is a song that encompasses everything we love about Sanha: of course, it’s a brilliant song.
NO REASON
With NO REASON, Sanha made it clear from the beginning that he was evolving as an idol and an artist. While ‘IDK ME’ is, without a doubt, the best song on the mini-album and earned its title track position, Sanha gave us several gems with his comeback. It all starts with ‘NO REASON,’ and we can absolutely see why it’s the song that gave the mini-album its name. It’s something new for Sanha as he dips his toes into the pop-rock genre with a song that is fun, carefree, and full of energy, exploring a new side of his talent yet capturing the Sanha essence perfectly.
The three other B-sides fall more in line with what we know from Sanha, yet we, of course, find an evolution in both vocals and inspirations. ‘If We’ serves a R&B sound that fits Sanha to perfection, truly showcasing the full extent of Sanha’s unbelievable vocals, from the luring chorus to an unbelievable outro. Meanwhile, ‘+1’ is a sweet yet surprising track with a catchy melody and a satisfying acoustic guitar that sticks like honey after just one listen. NO REASON closes off with ‘demo,’ a laid-back, almost stripped-back track. The song showcases Sanha‘s most vulnerable side as he uses the metaphor of an unfinished song to represent himself. It ties perfectly with the same ideas of the title track ‘IDK ME,’ but it shows the more insecure, darker side. It’s a gem in its lyrics and a perfect full-circle moment to wrap up a perfect comeback from Sanha.
