Back in 2020, ASTRO gave us their first-ever sub-unit: Moonbin and Sanha with ‘Bad Idea.’ It was new, refreshing, original, and it simply shook us to our core. Since then, ASTRO also debuted MJ as a soloist, and just last month, Jinjin and Rocky released an EP together. And now, Moonbin and Sanha are back as a sub-unit, and we couldn’t be more ecstatic about it. We do have to wait a bit longer for the full thing, but they’ve already given us the first taste of their next mini-album with their pre-release single, ‘Ghost Town,’ and we’re loving it.
‘Ghost Town’ is surprising in many ways. This song is quite different from all the songs that were included in IN-OUT, but it doesn’t feel like a total change of directions either. ‘Ghost Town’ is a pretty simple track, with its acoustic guitar and its backbeat, and that in itself makes it go such a long way. It creates this nostalgic and chill atmosphere, and it is seriously such a vibe. The lyrics are also incredible as they sing about letting someone go. And one of the most surprising elements of the song is that Moonbin and Sanha, both incredible vocalists, give us melodic raps, and it is amazing. It proves to us once again how ASTRO’s members are truly multifaceted and can do it all.
The music video that came out with it is pretty simple as well, but it replicates perfectly the vibe of ‘Ghost Town.’ They play with grey, blue, and red lights, making it so simple yet absolutely beautiful.
With such an amazing and different song as a pre-release single, we seriously can’t wait to see what Moonbin and Sanha, ASTRO‘s first sub-unit, bring to the table with their comeback. ‘Bad Idea’ was new, refreshing, original… And everything about ‘Ghost Town’ indicates that their new mini-album will follow its footsteps.
