We’re not sure if we’re the only ones who noticed, but there have been so many amazing releases this week in the music world. We’re talking across genres, too. There are so many different artists and releases this week we cannot get enough of. It’s hard to keep up, honestly, because we want every song on repeat at least 100 times, which is hard to do in a day when there are so many! We wanted to take a moment to highlight some of our favorite releases from our favorite female artists from this past week. Think Saweetie & H.E.R, Aly & AJ, Nicki Minaj, Charli XCX, and more! Saweetie FT. H.E.R – ‘Closer’
A collaboration between these two stellar artists? We knew it was going to be good before we even hit play. Saweetie always releases bops that get stuck in our head, and ‘Closer’ (stream here!) is no exception. It’s so catchy, and we have a feeling this is going to be a great song to jam out to when summer hits. Not that the weather is stopping us – rain or shine, we’re dancing to this track. The H.E.R feature is an absolutely amazing choice, a perfect pairing for a track like this. Saweetie and H.E.R complement each other so well on this track, which has such a fun, sexy, carefree vibe. We will be jamming out to it for the foreseeable future, confirmed.

Becky G FT. Karol G – ‘MAMIII’
The theme this week must be “songs that make us want to dance even though we can’t dance to save our lives.” ‘MAMII’ has us up and moving, lack of dancing skills aside. You need to listen to this song immediately, besties. We wanna dance with somebody while listening to this one. Becky and Karol’s voices are the perfect match together on this track. Not only is this track a vibe, but it has a message of empowerment and women owning their strength and confidence, and we absolutely love to see it.

Nicki Minaj FT. Lil Baby – ‘Bussin’
The queen of rap has delivered once again! Nicki Minaj dropped this brand new track earlier this week, and we cannot get enough. The beginning notes give us Halloween/spooky vibes for sure, and the entire song is already getting stuck in our heads. BRB while we learn Nicki’s lines as fast as possible. The back and forth between Nicki and Lil Baby makes this song even better, and we love the bad b*tch energy it exudes. Nicki, please teach us your ways!

Aly & AJ – a touch of the beat (deluxe)
We have loved Aly & AJ since ‘Potential Breakup Song,’ and the fact that we’re still getting new music from them in 2022 is everything to us. The duo just released the deluxe version of their 2021 album, a touch of the beat, which features brand new songs. ‘Get Over Here’ is one of those new tracks, and you will be obsessed. From their crystal clear vocals to the super fun, super colorful, 70s vibe of their outfits in this live performance, this song is so good. The vocals actually give us ‘Rush’ vibes, but with a more mature sound, coupled with modernized 80s synth sounds. We imagine this will also be a hit summer track!

‘Beg For You’ has been at the top of our playlists ever since it dropped, and now that we have a music video, we are even more stoked. Charli XCX and Rina Sawayama teamed up in this visually stunning video to bring us a mysterious, dystopian storyline. The fashion, the vocals, the visuals, everything about this music video is perfection. We also love the duo that is Charli and Rina and would not mind another collab from these two in the future. In fact, we’d beg for it.

Nina Nesbitt – ‘When You Lose Someone’
We don’t mean to make y’all emotional, but we just had to share this track (stream here!) with you. ‘When You Lose Somebody’ is a beautiful and heartbreakingly poignant reflection on grief and how loss can affect us. Nina Nesbitt’s vocals on this track are beautiful, and the emotion is palpable. Loss is something we all have experienced, and to see it captured in such an elegant way makes the song hit all too hard for those of us that may be dealing with it. It makes you feel understood in your grief, and we think that’s beautiful.

Maren Morris – ‘Background Music’
If you’re not already obsessed with Maren Morris’ voice, what are you doing? We’re sitting here anxiously awaiting the release of her new album (pre-save here!) and enjoying the release of her new track, ‘Background Music.’ This song feels like comfort, which is an interesting juxtaposition considering it tackles the topic of the beauty of temporary things. But it’s about the beauty in knowing moments are special because they don’t last forever. The moments you spend with the people you love are special because they end and become memories, and it’s a beautiful sentiment to express in a song. It’s comforting to know those memories exist.
