A Beginner’s Guide To Leveling Up Elizabeth Agyemang
Starting with our middle grade story on grief and friendships, we have Elizabeth Agyemang‘s A Beginner’s Guide to Leveling Up. The main character Galexie and her friends need a fresh start in sixth grade. But Galexie is still grappling with the loss of her beloved grandfather, who was a video game developer. She and her sister suddenly get sucked into a real-life video game found in their grandfather’s belongings. And Galexie must now beat the final boss if she wants to save herself and those she loves before they stay in the game for good.

Dead Girls By Beck Kubrick
Next, we have Beck Kubrick’s YA comedy horror, Dead Girls. With a sapphic romance and disability representation, this graphic novel debut has diversity written all over it! A serial killer strikes the town of Clossdale, all of the victims being teenage girls. Everyone blames the main character, Ash Hargreeves, only because she’s the daughter of the Clossdale Killer who wreaked havoc on the town 13 years ago. With the help of her two best friends, Ash goes to confront the killer, stop the murders, and clear her mother’s name. But what they uncover is a secret far more sinister.

Huda F Would Love You? By Huda Fahmy
Last but certainly not least, we have Huda Fahmy’s Huda F Would Love You? It’s the fourth and final book in her beloved Huda F series, inspired by her real-life experiences of growing up Muslim in America. This graphic novel takes place in the summer after Huda’s high school graduation. She’s taking classes at her local college and looking for love, then marriage as is expected of her. But the more she tries to impress the aunties, the more it backfires. Huda must now come to terms with what she really wants. She needs to find what’s important to her and start building the foundation for her life.
