It was Alexander 23’s birthday, and somehow we were the ones who ended up with a gift (no complaints here). In the midst of all the birthday love, we got the news that Alexander 23’s much-anticipated track ‘How To Drive’ would drop at the end of the week.
The end of the week is here, and so is ‘How To Drive.’ We’re absolutely blown away by this track. It was 100% worth the wait.
Screaming, crying, throwing up, you know, the drill. We’ve said time and time again how much Alexander 23 blows us away with his music, and ‘How To Drive’ has only increased our love for him. If someone asked us about his quintessential tracks, we would confidently include ‘How To Drive’ up there with songs like ‘Crash,’ ‘Dirty AF1s,’ and ‘IDK You Yet.’ Yes, we’ve only had ‘How To Drive’ for a few hours, and yes, we’re 100% certain it’s some of his best work, don’t question it. We know what we’re talking about.
‘How To Drive’ had our jaws on the FLOOR when we listened to it for the first time. Alexander 23’s lyrics always hit home, and some of the ‘How To Drive’ lyrics hit really, really hard.
Our favorite lines (at least so far) are:

The candles take more breath on every birthday
I’ve been heartbroken so badly that now I’m scared of being happy
They seem so simple, but they really hit you hard when you pay attention to the context of the song. And just wait till you hear the bridge. Oof. A masterpiece. We love how the last part of the song takes the questions from the chorus and turns them back to the listener. It’s like hearing Alexander’s thoughts as well as facing those questions yourself. The production and the lyricism have us swooning, simply.
