Camryn is back and she is flourishing! The 21-year-old hailing from Colorado is back with her first EP in a few years following the release of her energetic ‘EZ EZ’, Camryn kicked off the Love Maps era back last year with the release of her single ‘Paint Another Life,’ a smash hit that sings about the issues that young adults are often faced with in terms of screwing up and is highly relatable for her audience.
Full of high energy, heavy instruments, and immaculate production, Love Maps explores the different emotions a woman coming-of-age may feel, from love to life choices, this is an EP that speaks to her audience of the same age who are going through the hard-hitting reality of reaching adulthood and the experiences transitioning from adolescence. Camryn finds the perfect blend of the current rock & roll and pop music, creating some kick-ass, high-energy songs that truly create adrenaline whenever you listen to her. Camryn’s soulful vocals truly shine through on this record and proof of how she has grown as an artist, the cute and bubbly 13-year-old we were introduced to back when she toured with One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer. It’s also a further progression from her angsty New Dynasty EP, which further adds to our point of her blossoming and continuing to glow up as a child star to a strong, independent young woman who has found her feet and her sound.
Camryn opens the EP with a tribute to pop legend Whitney Houston with ‘Dance With Somebody,’ giving the song a more modern twist that fits into her sound. Songs like ‘Paint Another Life,’ and ‘My Love’ are lively and are made for outstanding live performance, something Camryn is more than capable of and is a true show woman. ‘Song To Myself,’ and ‘Where I Started’ still have total capability to get you moving and singing on the top of your lungs but the slower-paced songs feel more personal in the storytelling.
Overall, Love Maps is full of growth and power and is perfect to sing along to when you need to get things off your chest. It’s a record that was made to be performed live where you can feel every ounce of emotion it has to offer as it takes over your body. We just only hope it won’t be too long until we get to witness this in person.
Camryn celebrates the release of Love Maps by performing at this year’s SXSW today Friday, March 19th before heading to perform at the afterparty on Saturday, March 20th, exclusively through StageIt – tickets are available here.
