Meet Emanuel, a rising R&B artist who recently released his debut album, ALT THERAPY, and if you don’t have it taking over your hip-hop and R&B playlists then you’re missing out!
With Emanuel already being nominated for awards and topping numerous playlists, the Canada-born singer/songwriter is leaving his stamp on the genre and we got to know him in this On The rise Artist Q&A!
Tell us a little about yourself!
To just live according to that purpose. To see my life out through the talent and hard work I put into this craft.
What are your main musical influences?
My family drives me. I want to lift them up and create a legacy that my family can be proud of. I want to bridge the generational gap as best as I can before I leave my legacy to my children.
Who is on the line-up of your dream festival?
Frank Ocean, Kendrick Lamar, Dom Kennedy, Daniel Caeser, Ab-Soul, The Weeknd, Anderson.Paak, Tom Misch, Solange Wizkid.
What’s one piece of advice you’ve been given that you’d like to pass on to others?
How you treat others will be your legacy.
If you could live in any era for music for the rest of your life, which would it be and why?
If I had to choose an era of music to live in, it’s going to be the late ‘60s and early ‘70s funk era. If a time machine placed me in those times, I would have to brace myself for the racial and political climate but to be able to walk among the great pioneers of rock, r&b, hip hop, and pop would be a gift.
Name a song your parents got you hooked on
Bob Marley’s ‘Three Little Birds’ was a fixture in our long car rides. I really love the energy in those memories.
Is there an instrument you don’t play but wish you could?
I wish I played the guitar, I think it would be steezy and a powerful tool for writing.
