Rain can’t stop these British glam-rockers! A bad forecast turned the huge outdoor New Jersey stop on The Struts’ Strange Days Are Over Tour into two different sets back-to-back. We caught the first set last week!
The show kicked off with a few classics from the first two albums before we got to hear songs from the newest one, Strange Days. Adorned in glitter, frontman Luke Spiller had the crowd up and dancing from the second the band took the stage with ‘Primadonna Like Me.’
The Struts are true performers. Not only are they incredible musicians, but their stage presence is unmatched. The energy was high from start to finish, and everyone there seemed to have a phenomenal time.
You can’t play a show in New Jersey without acknowledging the greats, especially at the iconic The Stone Pony. We got to hear an acoustic cover of ‘Hungry Heart’ by Bruce Springsteen. Trust us, “The Boss” would be proud. We heard David Bryan of Bon Jovi even came to play ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ during the second set!
Luke repeatedly thanked the crowd for being so flexible with the change of plans. It ended up being a beautiful night, so the venue opened the back patio for fans to enjoy the space and watch the show on TV screens.
Singing ‘Could Have Been Me’ with a venue full of fans was incredible. Everyone seemed to agree, since a lot of them loved the show so much, they ended up buying tickets to the second set! We can’t think of a better way to end an encore.
The Struts really made the best of the rain, transitioning flawlessly from a huge outdoor show to two back-to-back sets inside. We can’t wait to see them again!
