There are few things in this world that can truly be counted on. In fact, our mothers have always told us that only two things in life are certain: death and taxes. Well friends, our mothers were wrong. It’s death, taxes, and 5 Seconds of Summer pumping out the best music of their lives every single time they drop a new album. All together, class: Thank you, 5SOS!
You can rarely say that an album is the best album the artist has ever released. And yet, every new album from 5SOS is exactly that, and 5SOS5 is no exception. Never has a fandom been more thoroughly fed with certified bops as the 5SOSFam, and never before has a band exceeded every expectation — even from the fans who know them best. *cries in ‘Bad Omens’ music video*
After a solid week of battle royale in the charts, with the fandom rallying once again around their band (that’s what you do when you love somebody), 5SOS once again emerged triumphant with the number one position on the charts in both Australia and the UK, and number two in the United States.
And this from an independent band. After years of struggling to make sure their voice was authentic and true around the demands of labels and suits, 5SOS finally shed the shackles of corporate control and have taken on this new era of music as the true masters of their destiny. The 5SOSFam looks on with the pride of a parent as the band continues their ascent to new heights, and it’s obvious that this eleven-year-old band is only just getting started.
As the tracklist on 5SOS5 continues to become the soundtrack of our 20s, we can only thank the band that has helped us find our voice. There is no fandom we’d rather be in tbh.
