In the age of internet validation fuelling our social media addictions, newcomer CRYBABYAMY has validated us all with this new track…we feel truly seen.
The 20-year-old Irish singer-songwriter’s mission is to lose the taboo on being emotional and give it a stage to be seen, heard, and talked about. Her first release since signing a major publishing deal with BMG, and we’re thrown into her emotional vulnerability with ‘Validation.’
Produced by Amy herself, with help from Rob Milton, who is responsible for the works of Holly Humberstone (an inspiration of Amy’s), Maisie Peters, and The 1975. This song is for the people who struggle with that healthy balance between enjoying Social Media and equally becoming obsessed with the consistent need for approval…we understand that all too well.
“‘Validation’ is a song about being obsessed with the attention we get from posting and being on social media. I see it as an anthem for young people, who are going through the motions of having a love/hate relationship with social media. I know I struggle with the vicious cycle of picking up my phone and putting it down again. Always chasing validation!“
Amy’s upbeat pop instrumental and vocals, paired with the relatable and heart-wrenching lyrics, create the perfect experience of the adrenaline of going viral, getting likes and views. Yet, deep down, you know you’re becoming addicted and equally unhappy.
Artists like Amy are incredibly important in a world that’s sometimes scared to be open and honest about their feelings. We are incredibly excited to see where Amy goes next and are eager to hear more music from her in the future.
