Flawlessly innovative and thought-provoking at every turn, Adam Lambert is definitely one of the most creative artists out there. It feels like Christmas every time he drops a new single or announces a new record… and this Christmas, it’s extra special! Adam recently unveiled the details of his fifth album, High Drama, which will see him putting his own spin on 11 hit songs with a little dramatic flair. Are we dreaming??
It’s a fun challenge to figure out a way of doing a 180 with a song. This album is a foray into my world. Over the past decade, I’ve explored a few different areas and sounds and energies, and I feel like part of this new chapter in my career is me being really clear on who I am, and what I am, and what I’m not. I think that’s all coming out in these tracks.
To give us something to do while we wait for release day and to help our fellow Glamberts who wanna know what we have to look forward to, we’ve rounded up everything we know so far about High Drama! Buckle up because we’re in for an amazing ride…
High Drama is Adam’s first record with Warner Music, and we’re stoked to see what this next chapter of his career brings. His last solo project was 2020’s Velvet, and he’s given us some standalone singles and music with Queen since then, but we can’t lie – we’ve missed that thrilling feeling of pressing play on an Adam album for the first time. High Drama will finally be ours on February 24th, and you can pre-save it here!
Part of what made us love Adam from the first time we saw him on American Idol was how he always managed to put his own spin on songs we already loved. And lucky for us, High Drama is stacked with covers we can’t wait to hear! From legends like Bonnie Tyler and Noël Coward to modern superstars like Billie Eilish and Lana Del Rey, each track is letting Adam add his own flair to iconic songs that have already been occupying our playlists. Can you spot any of your faves on the list below?
- ‘Holding Out for a Hero’
- ‘Ordinary World’
- ‘Getting Older’
- ‘I Can’t Stand the Rain’
- ‘West Coast’
- ‘Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?’
- ‘Sex on Fire’
- ‘My Attic’
- ‘I’m a Man’
- ‘Mad About The Boy’
In case you’re like us and can’t wait to hear a taste of this record, don’t worry! Adam blessed us with his stunning version of Duran Duran’s ‘Ordinary World’ early – how sweet of him not to leave us hanging until release day.
The Cover Art
To be completely honest, we haven’t been able to take our eyes off the High Drama cover! From the artsy shattered glass theme to the stunning cool color scheme to Adam’s metallic eyeliner, there’s nothing about this album art that we don’t adore. He’s ready to serve amazing music and looks!
And Now, We Wait…
We never quite know what to expect with an artist as dynamic as Adam, but we know he’ll have an absolute treat in store for us. Have you pre-saved High Drama yet? If not, do that right here ASAP, then let us know which song you’re most excited to hear in the comments below! You can also find us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, so come say hi!
