Lizzo has truly been an inspiration to us all this year! She is a superwoman, and we wonder if she got any sleep this year with all that she has accomplished. Lizzo is a trailblazer. An icon. Someone who isn’t afraid to break through barriers and pave her own way, and that’s exactly what she did all throughout this year. Special
Special is such a magical album, and it blessed our ears the moment we first heard it! While each song on the album holds a special place in our hearts, we especially want to give a shoutout to ‘About Damn Time.’ How could we not? ‘About Damn Time’ reached #1 on the Hot 100 Billboard chart making it her second song to get #1 after ‘Truth Hurts.’ Special also debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart simultaneously! We are looking forward to more hit albums to come!
Lizzo’s Watch Out For The Big Grrrls
We are very thankful for the barriers Lizzo removed with her competitive TV Series Lizzo’s Watch Out For The Big Grrrls on Amazon Prime Video. She brought the representation and body positivity we all have been yearning for. The show was nominated for several awards, and Lizzo ultimately won an Emmy for the series, amongst other accolades. Well deserved!!
Yitty
In collaboration with Fabletics, Lizzo gifted us with her shapewear line, Yitty! You can find shapewear for sizes XS to 6X, and we love to see it! Lizzo worked on Yitty for three years, and we are so thankful she decided to release her line. Wondering how Yitty got its name? Here is what Lizzo said: “Yitty is a nickname my auntie gave me when I was young. She was a full-figured woman and one of the coolest people ever with bold, beautiful energy. I wanted that energy in this brand.”
Saturday Night Live
Not only is Lizzo a talented artist, but she is also pretty funny, which is why she was the perfect person to be a musical guest on Saturday Night Live this year! Lizzo first appeared on SNL back in 2019, but this year she was invited back as a host and as a musical guest. Lizzo did such an excellent job that they invited her to return to SNL for a third time on December 17, so make sure you check it out!
Lizzoverse
Metaverses were quite popular this year amongst artists, but no one did it like our grrrl Lizzo! In July, she held an incredible light show and dance party in NYC in honor of releasing Special. Lizzoverse was a lot of fun as she had a live concert for fans and an intimate listening party, all over a three-day weekend through Amazon Music’s Twitch channel!
Love, Lizzo
Lizzo’s documentary Love, Lizzo was one for the books! Her documentary was released on HBO Max on November 24, and we would be lying if we said we didn’t cry while watching it. Love, Lizzo was a beautifully directed and intimately created cinematic masterpiece that we could watch again and again. If you want to know more about Lizzo and her upbringing, you will want to watch this film!
The Special Tour
Lizzo loves us so much that she decided to do another US leg of her Special Tour in 2023. We definitely are not complaining! Anytime we get to see Lizzo kill it on stage is a treat. Lizzo is also stopping by Europe to see all her fans there next year. We love that Latto is opening for her as well. You can get tickets here to see Lizzo on tour. Don’t miss out!
