After 11 long years, BOYS LIKE GIRLS are back! Yes, we’re over the moon having one of our favorite bands back, but they did capitalize their name, so it’s BOYS LIKE GIRLS. But if you’re like us, there’s not much of a difference since we’d usually type their name in caps because that’s how much we love them.
‘Blood and Sugar’ is a raw and honest portrayal of the human experience, exploring the theme of indulging in something bad for you, despite knowing the consequences.”
Martin Johnson, vocalist
We’re vibing hard with this new single. We love it when artists end their hiatus and come back with a completely new sound. But there are still two things that remain the same.
1) It’s amazing, like the rest of their discography.
2) We’re going to listen to this song an ungodly amount of times, like the rest of their discography.
You can check out the music video below or stream the song here.
Lyrics We Love
“It’s like I’m moving in slow motion
and I’m blinded by the sound.
See my body’s in the ocean,
but my head is underground.
I tried to pin it,
but her heart I’ll never win it.”
If You Didn’t Grow Up Listening To BLG
That’s okay! Now’s the perfect time to become a fan! But you have a lot of catching up to do. So with that in mind, here are three of our other song recommendations to get you started.
‘Two Is Better Than One’ (Feat. Taylor Swift)
Easily, one of the most iconic collabs of the late 2000s. Martin and Taylor harmonize beautifully together. We would give anything to hear this live with Taylor. We also think that she should record a song with Martin. *Slides them each $5* Please.
Their self-titled album defined a generation as a whole. Everyone knows ‘The Great Escape,’ and rightfully so. But we just think that she (‘Holiday’) deserves more attention.
This is the intro track to Love Drunk. It goes hard and sets the whole tone for the album. And it’s just a banger by itself. You can’t listen to this song and sit still. It’s literally impossible.
Ready To See Them Live?
Us too. Unfortunately, as of right now, they haven’t released any tour dates. But you know that we at The Honey POP will let you know as soon as they do!
