What is a summer without a Renee Rapp powerhouse release? Last year we were given the gift of her first single ever, ‘Tattoos’. And now we’ve been blessed with not just the release of ‘Snow Angel’, but also the looming anticipation of Renee’s debut album that will be ours this summer as well. Not that we’re trying to be greedy, but we can’t wait to be moved the way only Renee can move us.
Bringing her emotions to the table, ‘Snow Angel’ is a ballad about fighting through a heartbreak. Even when that heartbreak feels like it’s going to be the end of you altogether. The opening line, “First to arrive, last to leave, What’s misery without company?” evokes a physical gasp when you first hear it. There’s something about the way Renee shows her constant fight for inner strength through her lyricism that we can’t get enough of.
“I’ll make it through the winter if it kills me. I can make it faster if I hurry / An angel in the snow until I’m worthy / But if it kills me, I tried.”
Renee Rapp, ‘Snow Angel’
When talking about ‘Snow Angel,’ Renee said she was worried she wouldn’t ever be able to write a song as beautifully tragic as ‘In The Kitchen’ again. And even though we totally understand that we can’t speak for everyone, we think she outdid herself on this one. ‘Snow Angel’ was even produced by our resident bestie, Alexander 23! And it shows. The way it swells into a powerful rock ballad moment, only to fall back to the piano alone, resembles the way your emotions fluctuate during heartbreak.

Our Angel In The Snow
We might not have the release date for Snow Angel yet, but we’re already foaming at the mouth for more. Renee is worthy of the world in our eyes, and we can’t wait to see her keep conquering the world. From her big break as Regina George in Mean Girls The Musical on Broadway to her role in The Sex Lives Of College Girls and her debut EP Everything To Everyone, which also saw its Deluxe release earlier this year, Renee is gearing up to be the biggest name in lights in 2023.
Which line in ‘Snow Angel’ had you absolutely gagged? For us, it’s “Look in the mirror, she looks like me, But half-alive and twice as weak.” Let us know your pick in the comments below!
