The Ultimate Love Island Inspired Break-Up Playlist

If there’s one thing Love Island can do, it’s a dramatic moment with the perfect soundtrack. We were so hyped to hear MIYA MIYA have their moment on the show last week and it got us thinking about all our favorite new breakup songs. We’ve put together the ultimate Love-Island-inspired break-up playlist for you to blast from your speakers!

Whether you’re channeling your inner Ekin-Su or Indiyah, done the dumping, or have been heartbroken yourself, there’s a song here for you. There’s been a lot of emotions to process this season. Feel your feelings queen!

‘H8 Me 2’ – MIYA MIYA

This one is a vibe. It aired during last week’s “Snog, Marry, Pie” challenge which is always iconic. The song is so nostalgic for Y2K aesthetic and a pop-punk edge to its sound. The vocalists of the group’s voices compliment each other and blend so well. The lyrics are full of tropes that classic pop-punk lovers will adore, they are lovesick and tired of the way of the world, like all of our favorite bands. We’re looking at you Grayscale and Busted. This one is right at the top of our playlists.

If the band sounds familiar but you’ve not come across them before, MIYA MIYA is super hot on TikTok right now. And for good reason! This band of Brits is about to take over the airwaves and are taking on the world as an independent band, so big props to them. The group is made up of lead vocalists Gini and Jordan, guitarist Gio and drummer James. We can’t wait to see what they do next and we’ll be following their journey closely. Consider MIYA MIYA firmly on our stan list.

‘Memory Lane’ – Wiz Khalifa

Produced by Hitmaka, Ayo Roc and Bankroll Got It, Wiz Khalifa has just dropped another break-up song to add to our list. Just like MIYA MIYA’s ‘H8 ME 2,’ Khalifa’s ‘Memory Lane’ is pretty upbeat and punchy. The lyrics may be more down beat but it’s still got us grooving. Dance through the break-up? That seems to be what Wiz Khalifa was going for in his epic Jimmy Kimmel Live performance last week!

The lyrical flow is always top-notch when it’s Wiz Khalifa and he hasn’t disappointed. We can totally see this is some kind of getting ready for the evening montage. We’re so looking forward to Wiz Khalifa‘s headline tour with Logic which has just kicked off! Hopefully, he performs ‘Memory Lane’ and songs from his new album Multiverse which dropped Friday!

‘In The Kitchen’ – Reneé Rapp

When Reneé Rapp isn’t lighting up our screens in The Sex Lives of College Girls, she’s busy in the studio! We’re obsessed with her new single ‘In The Kitchen.’ This one is for the emotional girlies because we’ve got tears in our eyes. The song is all about reminiscing a past relationship and missing what you once had. We’ve all been there. Or Imagined it. We feel it though, it was real to us.

We really love when an artist leans into the themes of the song in the music video and Reneé has delivered. Can we also take a moment to appreciate those insane vocals? We might just be in love. This has got to make it onto our break-up songs playlist. Hopefully, we don’t see this kind of heartbreak before the Love Island finale! If it does happen, we hope this is playing!

‘How Do I Not’ – Madeline Consoer

We are loving this breakup song by Madeline Consoer! Coming straight out of Nashville, the singer has filled this song with nostalgia and memories. Missing the honeymoon phase and falling in love with her partner, she’s fully sold us on the heartache in ‘How Do I Not.’ With the stacked chorus vocals and the ambient piano, she really has got us deep in our feels. What a great pop song!

Do a little dance in the kitchen / I’ve been up and get ready for the trim end / Then we go our separate ways / Catching up at the end of the day / Never thought I’d have to say I miss that

We think you’ll love this one if you’re into a bit of Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, or really any artist who has a country-pop vibe. Madeline is one to watch, especially if she keeps tugging on our heartstrings like this! The music video is also the biggest vibe, being dramatic in the rain? Sign us up, we’re into it!

‘Break Up Sex’ – NERIAH

To all those who might need a little push and inspiration to cut that thread that’s keeping your ex around, NERIAH is here for you. Her punchy, punk-infused break-up song is everything we could’ve asked for. This is your reminder that sometimes trying to play it cool and keep them around can only lead to toxic habits and going back to something that wasn’t working. Blast this song and remember you’re a baddie and we’ll get you back on track!

This song is a girl boss effort, written with Julianne “Hope” Bueter, and Savannah Sgro, they killed this one.
