This is not a drill: Girls’ Generation is officially coming back as an eight-piece this summer! Hyoyeon, Seohyun, Sooyoung, Sunny, Taeyeon, Tiffany, Yoona, and Yuri are reuniting to honor their 15th anniversary with a brand-new album on August 8th. It’s called Forever 1 and we already know we’ll forever be obsessed with it.
We haven’t gotten any OT8 projects since they released Holiday Night back in 2017, and we’re so stoked that we’ll be getting ten new songs in August! We wanted to celebrate with all our fellow Sones, so join us in watching these performances approximately 3434985 times while we wait for SNSD’s comeback.
‘The Boys’
Of course, we had to kick off our list with a performance that literally kicks off with “girls are back!” This performance of ‘The Boys’ at Music Core ushered in a new era for the girls while proving their ability to command a stage. The red stage backdrop was a little different than we expected after seeing what a minimalist, sleek video ‘The Boys’ had, but we absolutely adore the aesthetic.
‘All Night’
We’re jumping a bit forward in time to SNSD’s last comeback with the Holiday Night era. This M Countdown performance of ‘All Night’ captured the song’s fun energy so well and the playful fringe on their costumes was such a cool touch.
‘Lion Heart’
This performance of ‘Lion Heart’ at a Korean music festival stole our hearts from the first time we watched it. The costumes really stood out from the other looks they wore while promoting ‘Lion Heart’ and the fact that it was a full festival set gave it a different energy than their TV performances. We’re in love!
‘I Got A Boy’
Ayo, GG fans! Have you watched their MAMA Awards performance of ‘I Got A Boy’ as much as we have? We’ve lost count of how many times we’ve replayed this video just to hear the extended intro and see the girls’ infectious confidence all over again.
‘Genie’
We’re kind of obsessed with the live remix of ‘Genie’ from the girls’ 2011 U.S. Tour! The vocals were immaculate, the vibes were incredible, and it was such an incredible way to reimagine a fan-favorite track. If you went to that tour, we’re more than a little jealous, NGL.
Which of these performances was your favorite? Were there any iconic stages we missed? Let us know in the comments below or hit us up on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter! And for more K-Pop content to keep you busy until August 8th, click here.
