Gold Bloom, a five-piece from Liverpool, is hitting the ground running with their newest single, ‘F.M.L.,’ set to appear on their upcoming EP, Hazy, out on October 27th. ‘F.M.L.’ is an upbeat anthem, discussing advice coming from outside sources and sometimes, the anxiety and depression that follow when you feel like you’re not doing enough. With such a brutally honest track, there’s no doubt their candor will serve them so well.

‘The Outcome’
It’s a song discussing the debilitating effects of depression, yet it doesn’t sound anything like a sad song. A great track to bop your head to, the melodic chorus soaring in the best possible way. And the bridge… oh, the bridge. Kickstarted with a killer guitar solo and followed by a little half-time breakdown, the bridge hits our sweet spot. This song is a perfect representation of why we love pop-punk music – it sounds happy, but the lyrics are so damn sad.
‘SMRT’
Not only is the music video funny and personable, but the drums thrive in this song. We love the steady, punctuated beat and high-pitched guitar picks throughout the track. Gold Bloom talks about being a ‘trainwreck’ with bad habits – we think we’ve all been there, feeling that way. Again, coming at us again with a happy, upbeat tempo and melody, with reflective, introspective (code for sad) lyrics. And the chorus? *chef’s kiss*
‘A Damned Shame’
The song opens with a killer drum fill before crashing and banging into the signature pop-punk sing-song-y melody. We love the pre-chorus, slowing down slightly before picking up pace again. We love the way Gold Bloom plays with song structure and dynamics, and it’s shown in ‘A Damned Shame’. With some solid riffs, it’s impossible not to like this song. We dare you.
