Every Song From YUNGBLUD The Album As Superpowers

Listening to YUNGBLUD (the album and the artist!) always makes us feel like we have superpowers. We can’t help but feel like we’re flying or strong enough to hold the world on our shoulders; YUNGBLUD makes us feel powerful. Fueled by emotion and passion, this is an album that will forever hold a place in our hearts (and our superhero soundtracks!)

‘The Funeral’ – Immortality

Living forever seems to be a concept that has sparked interest in people for decades. Vampires? We rest our case. Would it really be great to live forever, though? If you outlived everyone you loved then there’d be no one left to look beautiful dancing at your funeral. Now wouldn’t that be a shame, shame, shame?

‘Tissues’ – Power Absorption

With lyrics like, “I don’t want you to hide your issues. Blow them into your tissues. Give ’em to me.” this one seems obvious. By taking someone else’s powers, we’d also have the ability to take someone else’s pain for our own and allow them to be their true selves. Just as Dom says, everybody wants to feel love, and to be able to give that love to someone else is the greatest power of all!

‘Memories’ – Time Travel

Memories can be beautiful, but they also have a knack for keeping us trapped in the past. They can fill us with light or haunt us fully if we give them the power. Sometimes it makes us wish we could turn back the clock. Whether that’s to relive that moment again and again or try to change it, memories are a part of life we should embrace.

‘Cruel Kids’ – Reality Warping

We’ll admit, this was a tricky one at first. However, after re-listening to it over and over again (we’re not complaining) we knew reality warping was perfect. What is reality warping? That is changing the world around you to whatever your heart desires. You could make a paradise for yourself if you wanted. With a gut-wrenching plea of “I want a better life, I want a better life, I want a better life” the answer finally hit us!

‘Mad’ – Shapeshifting

If you ask us, we think shapeshifting is pretty darn awesome! You can literally turn yourself into whoever you want to be. But would you use it to change for everyone else? Dom says himself, “You hurt your heart, hurt your brain, hurt yourself, and try to change ’cause of everybody else,” which makes us question if shapeshifting would have its downside. Regardless, at the end of the day, it’s important to be yourself and be proud of who are. There’s only one you and that’s more special than any superpower.

‘I Cry 2’ – Super Strength

It takes a lot of strength to admit that you’re hurting or that you need help. It takes super strength to allow yourself to be vulnerable with others and still push through to the other side. “And I know you’re hurtin’, but I know you’re gettin’ through” It’s nice to remember there’s always better times on the horizon, but even better to know it’s okay to cry.

‘Sweet Heroine’ – Telepathy

Have you ever had that person you connected with so well you felt as though you could read each other’s mind? You were so in love that it felt like you were divinely linked. Telepathy can make it so that a person is a part of you and tangled in every fiber of your being. Or, as Dom would say, “Pulsing through my veins like you ain’t a sin,and “I’ve got you in my throat like you’re medicine.

‘Sex Not Violence’ – X-Ray Vision

It only seems suitable that our favorite superpower goes along with our favorite song on the album. Come on, x-ray vision? It doesn’t get much cooler than that! While we could definitely lean into the cheeky side of the meaning (iykyk) ‘Sex Not Violence’ also taps into the parts of us that people don’t normally see and the secrets we’ve been hiding away. “I bet you don’t even know. That I’m a mess for your amusement. I sit and cry in bed alone.”

‘Don’t Go’ – Teleportation

If you’re not sure if you want that special person to come or go, stay or leave, then teleportation is going to be your best bet! If you’re able to teleport. you can go anywhere and everywhere, day or not, which could ease your indecisiveness (or get you through traffic jams!)

‘Don’t Feel Like Feeling Sad Today’ – Emotion Manipulation

Wouldn’t it be a dream to not feel sad if we didn’t want to? To help other people feel their best every day? We know that there are going to be days where we’re down and we’re feeling. as though the world is against us, but luckily ‘Don’t Feel Like Feeling Sad Day’ is pure joy from start to finish.

‘Die For A Night’ – Necromancy

Perhaps this is too obvious, but if you can die for a night, you can bring yourself back to life. One of the most heartbreaking songs on the album, it leaves us questioning our place in the world and in the lives of our loved ones. But to answer your question, Dom, yes. We would mind it.

‘The Boy In The Black Dress’ – Invisibility

Sometimes it can feel like the world doesn’t see you for who you truly are. You feel invisible. While that may sound cool as a superpower (it definitely is,) it’s also extremely painful to not feel like you’re seen by the outside world. Thanks to Dom and his music, a lot of us are able to feel seen. To feel heard. “You don’t want to lie. No, you don’t want to lie anymore about why you feel so bad.” Speak your truth and don’t lie to anyone about what’s going on inside.

‘The Emperor’ – Super Speed

If this song doesn’t give you the zoomies you’re not listening to it right. ‘The Emperor’ makes you feel like you’re running on hyperdrive and Dom’s energy jumps out through every note. Even the lyrics have you spinning around in circles. “All day, all day, all day, all day, all day, all day, all day, all day.” Need we say more?
