Since it was announced that Bang Yedam was releasing his first solo mini-album, we’ve been on the edge of our seats waiting for the concept photos, the tracklist, the songs, and everything in between. And the first taste of this new era is finally here! Yedam released ‘Miss You’ as a pre-release single. We didn’t think it was possible to be more excited for the release of Only One on November 23rd, yet here we are. ‘Miss You’ is already everything to us. It seems like Only One is on its way to being one of the best releases in 2023.
‘Miss You’ is what we expected as a first taste of Yedam’s solo. The song is a heartbreaking ballad with nothing but a piano and Yedam’s raw and hard-hitting vocals. Yedam is one of the best vocalists in the 4th gen of K-Pop, and his tone is perfect for every genre of music, especially ballads. His style is distinctive, and he manages to move the string of our hearts with every single note. This time, it hit harder because Yedam wrote, composed, and produced the song.
This masterpiece is full of raw emotions about parting ways with someone dear to you. It explores the difficulty of letting someone go and all the feelings that can contradict each other. Yedam explores nostalgia, love, pain, and anger all at once. It’s beautiful and relatable in the most heartbreaking way. And if we had to point out our favorite part… let’s just say, the second verse is beautiful beyond words. ‘Miss You’ is the perfect song for anyone who loves sincere, heartbreaking ballads you can play on a loop for hours, cry your eyes out, and never get tired of.
His live performance of the song will make you fall all the more in love with ‘Miss You.’ The amount of passion and hurt he puts into his voice will never fail to blow us away. The post-chorus is full of heartbreak: he makes us feel the emotion behind every note in every fiber of our body. That is talent. Yedam is the singer-songwriter everyone needs in their lives right now. No one can really do a ballad like him, can they?
This song shows Yedam’s more emotional and vulnerable side, and we already can’t wait to see what else he has in store for us in Only One. One thing is for sure, though: Yedam is back, and it’s one of the best things that has happened to us. This is only the beginning, and Yedam already has us wrapped around his finger.
