As we all know K-Pop englobes so many different genres and types of artists – from groups to bands and also, of course, solo artists. These are some of the ones we think you should stan.
For the sake of the list not being thousands of miles long, in this list, you’ll only find solo artists that aren’t from active groups at the moment.
Let’s get started!
Let’s start off our list of K-Pop solo artists with the best of the best: Woodz. Now he’s technically still in an active group but it’s been so long since Uniq had a comeback and Woodz’s music is so good that we couldn’t leave him out. His style goes more towards hip hop and R&B which makes his music so refreshing and his talent for sure stands out. It isn’t an exaggeration when we say Woodz is one of the most complete and all-rounder artists in the industry. His talent is immense and his music is simply incredible.
Song recommendations to get started: ‘Accident,’ ‘Love Me Harder,’ ‘Bump Bump.’
How could we do a list of soloists without including IU? Her incredible and soft vocals never fail to blow us away with every single song. Her songs always feel fresh and full of emotions, and she never fails to hit the right spot. Not only is she an incredible singer but she’s also an amazing actress as she starred in the iconic k-drama, Hotel Del Luna.
If you’re looking for a solo artist to support, IU is definitely a good place to start. With having debuted in 2012, her discography is long and absolutely amazing, and her talent just keeps growing.
Song recommendations to get started: ‘Love Poem,’ ‘Blueming,’ ‘Glasses.’
Making his debut as a k-pop solo artist in 2020, Wonho has already made a name for himself as an idol and as an artist. Not only is he an incredible person but he has a wonderful voice and has amazing music. With only two EPs out (Love Synonym #1: Right For Me and Love Synonym #2: Right For Us) it’s easy to listen to his discography and get familiar with him. And it is really worth it.
Song recommendations to get started: ‘Losing You,’ ‘Open Mind,’ ‘Lose.’
Next on our list of K-pop soloists is none other than Chungha.
To say she’s like a k-pop princess is to keep it simple. Other than the fact that she is a great singer, she has a very distinctive yet on-trend sound that will make you love her music and know instantly that it’s her when you listen to it. It doesn’t hurt that she’s also an incredible performer and one of the best female dancers in the industry at the moment.
Overall, she’s an incredible artist and truly an ace, and someone you shouldn’t miss out on.
Song recommendations to get started: ‘Gotta Go,’ ‘Everybody Has,’ ‘Flying On Faith.’
After the dissolution of Wanna One, Park Jihoon debuted as a soloist in 2019, and since then he has done nothing but prove himself to be this amazingly talented artist. He now has several EPs and even a full-length album, and he’s even an actor as well. And as much as we loved Wanna One, he has given us incredible music as a solo artist that we can’t get enough of.
Song recommendations to get started: ‘GOTCHA,’ ‘360,’ ‘L.O.V.E.’
If someone could embody the word “iconic,” it would be BoA.
Debuting as early as 2000, BoA has made such an impact in the industry that it’s impossible to explain and fully grasp it. It’s her style, her music, her voice, her stage presence: everything about her is simply incredible and showstopping. A true icon.
Song recommendations to get started: ‘Woman,’ ‘L.O.V.E,’ ‘Feedback.’
By far one of the best lyricists in K-Pop, B.I released his first full-length album in 2021 and he did not disappoint even with all the hype that was around his comeback. Falling in the more R&B and hip-hop side of K-Pop, his style when it comes to lyrics and composing is truly unmatched. To say he’s an incredibly talented lyricist and composer is an understatement. No one does it like him.
Song recommendation to get started: ‘Waterfall,’ ‘Got It Like That,’ ‘Illusion.’
The next soloist on our list may not have many songs yet but we really mean it when we say it’s worth it to stan her. Just like Chungha, Somi debuted in I.O.I after being a finalist on Produce 101. The Canadian singer then debuted in 2019 with ‘Birthday,’ and it may not be for everyone but once you’re into it, there’s no way back. She’s truly an immensely talented idol that has so much yet to achieve and show and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for her, but you should definitely be part of it.
Song recommendation to get started: ‘Birthday,’ ‘Outta My Head,’ ‘What You Waiting For.’
How could we forget about him? Eric Nam is an American and Korean singer-songwriter that debuted officially in 2013. His music tends to go towards the acoustic and emotional, lyrical side of music, but he can also pull off anything he wishes to do. One thing’s for sure, he never fails when it comes to music – whether it’s in Korean or English, his soft pop voice always sounds amazing.
The other good thing about stanning Eric other than his music is that there’s so much content to watch, and it’s always so much fun. He’s the founder of Dive Studios and has a weekly podcast there. His humor, charisma and takes on the different topics he talks about, are really something else and it’s always entertaining to watch.
If there’s one k-pop solo artist you won’t regret stanning, it’s Eric Nam.
Song recommendations to get started: ‘Paradise,’ ‘Love Die Young,’ ‘I Don’t Miss You.’
Now, she’s something.
Seori may have only debuted last year but it’s little to say that she has left a mark in everyone’s mind. From collaborating with Jae from DAY6 to writing and featuring in TXT‘s ‘0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You),’ Seori also has her own solo stuff, and needless to say, it’s incredible. Her voice is so sweet, unique, and pretty that there’s no way it can go wrong. The lyricism of her music is also something to be highlighted, as well as the more indie production of her tracks.
One thing’s for sure, Seori and her music are so special that there’s no way anyone could not like it.
Song recommendations to get started: ‘Lovers In The Night,’ ‘Running Through The Night,’ ‘I Wanna Cry.’
Even though she debuted back in 2007 as a member of Wonder Girls, Sunmi has been making her mark in the industry on her own since 2013. The artistry and uniqueness in her style and voice make her so interesting. With every comeback from her, you get something new, fresh, and unique. Not only that but she’s an absolutely incredible person, and it’ll take one second to realize just how cool she is by seeing what she posts online.
It’s not a coincidence that she’s one of the most iconic soloists in the industry right now. And she really deserves that title.
Song recommendations to get started: ‘Gashina,’ ‘Tail,’ ‘Heroine.’
Another K-pop soloist that can definitely be described as unique is DAWN.
He debuted as a solo artist back in 2019 and released his first EP in late 2020. Now, you probably know the title track, ‘DAWNDIDIDAWN,’ because it went viral and quickly became one of the most iconic songs of 2020. DAWN has a very unique tone to his voice and his rap is so recognizable. It’s impossible to confuse him with anyone else. His style goes more towards hip-hop and it’s mainly rap-based, but he really has a unique style that can’t be found anywhere else, and he still has more chill and laid-back tracks. He’s that type of artist that you can never expect what they’ll do next and that’s the fun of it.
Song recommendations to get started: ‘DAWNDIDIDAWN,’ ‘Money,’ ‘Still.’
Yukika is a Japanese singer based in South Korea, and even though she had various projects before, she debuted as a soloist back in 2019. What makes her and her music so special is her take on the city pop genre. It’s something you wouldn’t find anywhere else and her voice is simply incredible. She has such fresh yet retro music. She’s one of those artists that are truly one of a kind.
Song recommendations to get started: ‘SOUL LADY,’ ‘pit-a-pet,’ ‘Insomnia.’
One of the biggest and most promising K-Pop solo artists right now is of course Kang Daniel. He debuted as a soloist in 2019 after being one of Produce 101‘s finalists and therefore joining WANNA ONE from 2017 to 2018. Even though WANNA ONE had so much impact at the time, Kang Daniel has lived up to that hype and impact. Not only is he an incredible artist but it’s an understatement to say that he’s an all-rounder. And his music really never fails to get stuck in your head.

This is a more particular entry in our K-Pop soloist list simply because LØREN only has one song out to date and unfortunately it’s not on Spotify, but what a song. His debut song, ‘Empty Trash,’ is so incredible that we couldn’t leave him out. Not only is the song incredible but the aesthetic of the music video is so good that it feels like a dream. And he may have only one song out but many are to come and we couldn’t be more excited for it.

The last male k-pop solo artist on our list is none other than Sam Kim.
Great voice and great music. What else could you need? Sam Kim is an incredible artist that’s criminally underrated. He debuted back in 2016 and keeps releasing masterpieces. He has such beautiful ballads, so if you’re into soft music, he’s definitely for you.

Last but definitely not least, we have Heize.
The singer, songwriter, rapper, composer, and producer has been around since 2014, and she keeps serving. With her R&B style that falls more in the chill, laid back, sometimes melancholic side of the genre, she is one of the most important K-pop solo artists right now and for a reason. Her music is simply incredible and creates such a vibe that is impossible to duplicate.
