21 K-Dramas To Look Forward To In 2021

K-Drama enthusiasts, listen up! 2020 is over, and with the new year of 2021, there are so many new exciting dramas coming your way! We know the amount of K-Drama’s coming out can be overwhelming, so we decided to pick our favorite 21 K-Dramas to keep an eye out for in the new year. They all seem way too good to be missed, so they are certainly on our watchlist!

YOUTH

Air Date: TBA. Episodes: TBA.

We know Army must be the ones most excited for this one! This drama is going to be a fictional retelling of the beginning of BTS. Recent details about the drama were announced, and it’s been said they will not use BTS members’ names and is due to start filming very soon. Youth will follow seven boys while they face life growing up and achieving their dreams. All we know is the cast looks absolutely amazing, that’s for sure!

Cast: Seo Jihoon, Ahn Ji Hoon, Jung Woo Jin, Kim Yoon Woo, Noh Jong Hyun, Seo Young Joo, Jeon Jin Seo.

Mouse

Air Date: Feburary. Episodes: 16

Mouse is going to be a thrilling drama all centered around the question- “What if we could sort out psychopaths in advance?” We will follow Lee Seung Gi in the role of rookie police officer Jung Ba Reum. He will come face to face with a murderous psychopath, and after this meeting, his life will start to change drastically. There’s not too much information on this drama out there yet, but the premises sound absolutely exciting, and we love a good mystery thriller!

Cast: Lee Seung Gi, Kang Soo Jin, Lee Hee Joon, Park Joo Hyun.

Dear M.

Air Date: Feb 15th. Episodes: 12

NCTZENs, are you ready for Jae Hyun’s drama debut? Dear M is the idol’s first drama role, and we are so excited to see him on the small screen! Dear M. is a college drama taking place at Seoyeon University. The drama will center around the search for ‘Mister M’ after some anonymous posts on the SU’s online community. During this search, the cast will go through various life events and realistic, romantic relationships. This sounds too good to miss!

Cast: Park Hye Soo, Jung Jae Hyun, Bae Hyun Sung, Roh Jeong Eui, Lee Jin Hyuk.

Snowdrop

Air Date: May 28th (TBC). Episodes: 16

This must be one of the most anticipated dramas of 2021! Snowdrop will mark the long-awaited acting debut of BLACKPINK‘s Ji Soo in the main role. She will be acting opposite household K-Drama names, and the plot of the drama has fans intrigued. This drama is set in 1987 Seoul and will focus on the main lead’s love story. Jung Hae In, as Im Soo Ho, rushes into Eun Young Cho’s (Ji Soo’s) dorm covered in blood, and she takes care of his wounds. There is a lot of speculation about the release date of this drama, and nothing is confirmed yet, but we hope to see it in the first half of 2021!

Cast: Jung Hae In, Kim Ji Soo, Yoon Se Ah, Kim Hye Yoon, Jang Seung Jo, Jung Yoo Jin, Yoo In Na.

She Would Never Know

Air Date: Jan 18th. Episodes: 16

Fantasy, we are finally seeing our boy Rowoon again in a lead role! She Would Never Know is a drama about a Senior-Junior work relationship at a cosmetic brand company. Rowoon will be the Junior to Won Jin Ah’s role. While Yoon Song Ah (Won Jin Ah) dreams of having her own cosmetic line, Chae Hyun Seung (Rowoon) is there to support her. The trailer of this drama looks absolutely amazing, and we are so excited to start the year with this fun romance drama! 

Cast: Won Jin Ah, Lee Joo Bin, Ro Woon, Lee Hyun Wook.

River Where The Moon Rises 

Air Date: March 1st. Episodes: 16

Okay, but we cannot deny that we have a soft spot for Kim Ji Soo, the man has been giving fans drama after drama, and they all have been such a joy! This time he will be back as the male lead of River Where The Moon Rises, a historical romance drama about a classic Goguryeo folktale. Kim So Hyun, as Pyeonggang, dreams of becoming the first female leader of Goguryeo, and she will use On Dal, Kim Ji Soo, to achieve this goal. This drama sounds incredible and brings something new to the usual historical Joseon era K-Dramas, and we can’t wait!

Cast: Kim So Hyun, Kim Ji Soo, Lee Ji Hoon, Choi Yoo Hwa.

Love Alarm 2

Air Date: TBA. Episodes: 8

We were expecting to get the second season of Love Alarm on Netflix in 2020, but sadly the drama was postponed and will hopefully finally hit our screens in 2021! We need to know how this drama will continue after the season one cliffhanger! Now is the time to binge the first season if you haven’t yet.

Cast: Kim So Hyun, Song Kang, Jung Ga Ram, Go Min Shi.

Undercover

Air Date: April 16th Episodes: 16

We are huge suckers for crime dramas here at The Honey POP, and Undercover will give fans of the genre exactly that. The drama is expected to dig into the reality of power. It will be following Choi Yeon Soo, a human rights lawyer who fights for justice, and Han Jung Hyun, an undercover agent. This drama sounds extra juicy, and fans of the cast have been anticipating this drama for a good while!

Cast: Ji Jin Hee, Han Sun Hwa, Kim Hyun Joo, Yeon Woo Jin.

Hospital Playlist 2

Air Date: April Episodes: TBA.

The first season of Hospital Playlist was an absolute hit in Korea and internationally. We really loved these characters, their chemistry, and their relationships/friendships! Fans of the show cannot wait to see their favorite medical-clique back on their screens, and we are also excited to see where the story will be going!

Cast: Jo Jung Suk, Yoo Yeon Seok, Jung Kyung Ho, Kim Dae Myung, Jeon Mi Do.

All Of Us Are Dead

Air Date: June. Episodes: TBA.

Zombies are one of TV’s most explored creatures, and Korean entertainment has been giving Zombie enthusiasts so many more options, and here is another one. All Of Us Are Dead will focus on a group of high school students who are trapped in their school while a Zombie virus breaks out on the outside. This sounds just as good as it hopefully will be! Onto the watchlist, it goes!

Cast: Yoon Chan Young, Park Ji Hoo, Jo Yi Hyun, Yoo In Soo, Park Solomon.

Devilish Judge

Air Date: Jun . Episodes: 16

Ahgase has probably been waiting for another drama with Jin Young just as anxiously as we have, and he is finally coming back in this chase and justice drama! The drama will not be focusing on an ordinary courtroom, but more so, it will feel like a reality show where a judge is trying to exterminate evil. Devilish Judge sure sounds interesting, so we are hoping to get more information on it soon! 

Cast: Park Jin Young, Park Gyu Young, Ji Sung, Kim Min Jung.

Vincenzo

Air Date: Feb 20th. Episodes: 16

Did someone say Italian mafia? Maybe? Vincenzo will focus on a South Korean lawyer who grew up in Italy after being adopted, and now he goes by the name Vincenzo Casano. After a fight between mafia groups, he flees to South Korea, where he meets the charming lawyer Hong Cha-Young, with whom he falls in love. We love a good romantic comedy with a twist. Taecyeon is also going to play the second male lead, so we know this drama is going to be soo good.

Sisyphus: The Myth

Air Date: Feb. Episodes: 16

Do you love good fantasy and mystery dramas just as much as we do? If so, Sisyphus: The Myth is the 2021 drama for you! The drama will follow Han Tae Sul and Kang Seo Hae on a dangerous quest through space and time. The teaser for this show already has fans excited, and Park Shin Hye is coming to watchers as a kick-ass woman! We, honestly, can’t wait.

Cast: Cho Seung Woo, Park Shin Hye, Sung Dong II, Jung Ha Joon.

Joseon Exorcist

Air Date: Mar 15th. Episodes: 16

Joseon Exorcist will fill your need for an unbelievable Joseon-era drama! The historical drama will have a nice twist to it – dead members of the royal family are coming back to life after they are killed off. That sounds like we will be getting another Kingdom-like show and the cast for this looks remarkable!

Cast: Jang Dong Yoon, Park Sung Hoon, Kam Woo Sang, Kim Dong Jun, Jung Hye Sung, Lee Yoo Bi.

Arthdal Chronicles : Season 2

Air Date: TBA. Episodes: TBA.

We were hoping to see the second season on Netflix in 2020, but, sadly, there wasn’t any news. The show’s first season dropped in three parts throughout 2019 and blew fans away with its budget and storyline. Arthdal Chronicles is said to be a serial show, and we are hoping to see season two on our screens in 2021. We need to know how this story continues!

The Sea Of Silence

Air Date: TBA Episodes: 8

There isn’t a ton of information on this drama yet, but it’s set to drop on Netflix, so we know it’s going to be good. The plot details we have gotten so far seem quite interesting as The Sea Of Silence (The Silent Sea) is set in the future, the earth is dried up, and water and food are short in supply. The drama will follow soldier Yoon Jae on a secret mission to the moon to retrieve a secret substance. And you know who is playing Yoon Jae? No one else but mister Goblin! Now, that sounds absolutely binge-able!

Cast: Gong Yoo, Bae Doo Na, Lee Joon.

Cliffhanger

Air Date: TBA Episodes: 16

Cliffhanger is set at Mount Jiri and will center around park rangers who rescue people in the park and mountain. The basic plot seems to be interesting enough for fans to anticipate it. This drama is supposed to be a mystery thriller, so where it will go is a mystery in itself. The cast of the drama already has fans squealing in joy, so we hope to get more information and possibly a trailer soon!

Money Heist (Korean Remake)

We’re sure fans of the original are especially hyped for this remake! Korean remakes never let us down, and Money Heist will surely be just as good! There is already so much buzz around this drama, and we bet the budget for this is appropriate. We are waiting anxiously to get all the details about this, but at least we know it is coming this year! 

Cast: Yoo Ji Tae, Jeon Jong Seo, Kim Yoon Jin, Park Hae Joon, Bae Sung Woo.

Luca: The Beginning

Air Date: Feb 1st. Episodes: 16

This drama was supposed to drop in 2020, but, sadly, the release was postponed. But now we finally got a release date and multiple trailers coming out, and it looks too good to be true. LUCA stands for Last Universal Common Ancestor and is based on Charles Darwin’s proposition that all species have descended over time from common ancestors. The drama will center around Ji Oh and Gu Reum, who team up to find out the truth about some facts in their personal lives. They will solve the mysteries about themselves and life. It sounds astounding. We are also happy to see Lee Da Hee back in a new drama!

Cast: Kim Rae Won, Lee Da Hee, Kim Sung Oh, Jung Da Eun.

School 2021

Air Date: TBA. Episodes: 32

Yes, we are finally going to get School 2021, but, sadly, we barely have information about this still. School 2021 will focus on students’ lives and how they handle their academic, romantic, and school life. Kim Yo Han, the former center of X1 and now a member of WEi, will play the lead role! Sadly, that’s all we know, but since we almost didn’t get it at all, after production fell through in 2020, we are hopeful for what’s to come.

Cast: Kim Yo Han.

Deluxe Taxi

Air Date: March Episodes: 16

Are you part of the club that loves to read webtoons? So are we, and Deluxe Taxi is another adaption from a famous webtoon! It looks and sounds interesting, and we can’t wait to see this adapted. This drama will be about different characters who work at Rainbow Taxi Company and help solve other people’s problems. The cast of Deluxe Taxi is also exciting because APRIL’s Naeun is back on our screens! We love to see it!

Cast: Lee Je Hoon, Esom, Lee Na Eun, Kim Eui Sung.

It will be a challenge to watch all of these, and this is only a small portion of the new ones coming our way!
