That’s right — Eighty Ninety just gifted us another absolute banger — ‘Ruins!’ As if we weren’t already foaming at the mouth at the announcement of their self-titled debut album — which is releasing on December 15th. But ‘Ruins’ is the exact kind of on-repeat track we’ve come to love and expect from Eighty Ninety. It also acts as the final single from their debut album, which makes the suspense even more intense!
‘Ruins’ follows their prior singles like ‘Face Like A Sunset’ and ‘Stay Alive.’ Every single from their album has one thing in common for sure, and that’s the way they vulnerably talk about what it’s like to be a human.
‘Ruins’ is a reflection the past, the choices we didn’t make and the ‘what ifs’ that still linger. We wanted to capture the ache of those missed opportunities and unspoken words, and to reflect on our youth and the ruins we all carry with us. The rest of the album also explores how we shape our lives on the foundations of those ruins and their enduring impact on who we become.

Knowing that the rest of the record is going to dive into similar narratives to ‘Ruins’ has us booking sessions with our therapists and stocking up on tissues. Because it’s about to be time to journal and reflect! Eighty Ninety has a way of telling stories that feel so personal to us that we can’t help but attach our own experiences to their tracks. It’s one of the many reasons why we know they’re on their way to taking over the world. And personally? We’re excited for the front-row seat!
