Music Rewind 2023: Maisie Peters Worked Her Magic

It’s been a roundhouse year for our favorite Good Witch, Maisie Peters. And talking about the reasons we haven’t taken our eyes off of her all year is something we do almost every day. From an album to its deluxe, an insane tour, and so much more – Maisie has been insanely busy this year. Let’s be clear: she could go silent for all of 2024 (but please don’t do that to us. Yes, we’re strong, but it doesn’t need to be tested,) and we would still be absolutely obsessed with her. We’re just even luckier to say that couldn’t be further from the truth for 2023.

The Good Witch Promo

The Good Witch was a Cancer baby, which meant we spent six entire months of 2023 eagerly awaiting her arrival. Maisie may have started teasing the record in 2022, but this year was the juiciest part of it. She used Tarot Cards to help ignite the excitement in the fandom, and it so worked. Each Tarot Card was custom to The Good Witch’s theme and represented a song from the album. This was awesome not only because of how much we love a theme but also because we got to know what each song meant to Maisie before we attached our own meanings to them. It made it all feel so much more personal for us and the fandom as a whole!

An Evening with the Good Witch

You already know that every time Maisie announces a tour, we sign up for presale and arrange our finances. But this tour was even more sacred to us. An Evening with The Good Witch was an intimate acoustic show tour that Maisie took across the UK up until the album’s release. Maisie brings a whole new meaning to her songs when she performs them acoustic. And the idea of these being intimate shows where we feel like we’re at a hangout session with our popstar bestie honestly made us tear up a bit at first. You can always count on Maisie to make her fans feel like family, and we love her for that!

The Alli Proelio Award from Trinty College

This fall, Maisie also was awarded the Alli Prelio Award from Trinity College in Dublin. The award is given to individuals who have helped broaden the perspectives of the world. We can’t think of an award more fitting for Maisie than one all about changing people’s lives. We know that she’s truly changed ours!

The Good Witch Comes To North America

What is an insane album release without an equally insane tour to come with it? Maisie announced her first tour of the year with The Good Witch Comes To North America. And, of course, there was a UK & Europe leg announced later on as well. But this tour was destined to serve from the moment it was conceptualized. So, of course, that’s exactly what it did. Even in times of adversity, like in Phoenix when Maisie’s bus just… didn’t show up??

Maisie simply proved there was nothing she couldn’t overcome and managed to find instruments strewn across Phoenix to play an acoustic set that night for her fans. This is what being a Good Witch is truly all about.

Rolling Stone UK’s Breakthrough Award

Maisie was drowning in awards this year, so of course Rolling Stone knew what was up! Maisie was awarded their Breakthrough Artist Award, which we think was the obvious choice this year. And with it, Maisie also graced the cover of Rolling Stone UK as well. We love to see our Good Witch thriving and getting the recognition she deserves! And thanking your ex in your acceptance speech? We love to see it.

The Good Witch (Deluxe)

It’s insane to think that The Good Witch could’ve gotten any better, and then Maisie said, “Hold my broomstick.” and dropped The Good Witch (Deluxe). The album also dropped on the same day as 1989 TV, so it was a full circle for us as Maisie stans, and maybe even her too! The Deluxe featured bad witch hype-up tracks like ‘Guy On A Horse’ and ‘Holy Revival,’ which is our “Hot Girl Winter Anthem” btw. Along with songs like ‘Yoko’ that have us reflecting on some people that we loved so much but couldn’t fix the damage in the relationship. A total of six deluxe tracks, The Good Witch was so back on this one.

Did we get all of your iconic moments from Maisie throughout the year? Let us know if we missed any in the comments, or on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook!
