It’s only January, but ATEEZ is already working on solidifying 2024 to be another stellar year to add to the books, as it’s just been announced they will be performing at Coachella 2024! The eight-member group will be the first K-POP boy group to perform at the world-renowned festival with sets on April 12th and 19th, respectively.
As ATINY ourselves, we are so beyond excited for their performance and just know it’s going to be one of the most memorable sets of the whole weekend. The costumes will be elaborate, the vocals will be phenomenal, and the atmosphere will be pure fire! Now, we’ll be honest, we’ll be happy with literally anything they choose to perform (no, seriously, they could put Jongho on stage splitting an apple for one of the songs, and we’d lose our minds over it!), but if we were put on the spot by Hongjoong himself and asked to compose a setlist, after trying not to pass out and try to control our nervous sweating, we’d probably suggest something like this…
‘HALAZIA’
Released in 2022 as part of Spin-Off: From The Witness, ‘Halazia’ is a high-energy performance banger that would truly get the crowd at Coachella engaged and hyped. The choreography is explosive, the music is electric, and it’s just sure to make a lasting impression on both ATINY and casual festival-goers alike! We’ve had some iconic performances of the song over the past year, and we just know Coachella will be no different. Add a touch of pyrotechnics, and this will surely be a show-stopper of a performance.
‘PIRATE KING’
With ATEEZ being the pirates of K-POP, it wouldn’t be right if they didn’t perform ‘PIRATE KING!’ The octet made its debut with the song just over five years ago, and it’s still iconic to this very day. This was such a bold and iconic debut song that really made its mark and left an incredible first impression on us, with ATEEZ really letting the world know who they are. It’s powerful, it’s gritty, and it really pulls you in. And, of course, being the performance kings that they are, the choreo absolutely eats and will be sure to impress.
‘Guerrilla’
Finding home on 2022’s THE WORLD EP.1: MOVEMENT, ‘Guerilla’ is another song we’d love to see on the setlist. The vigorous techno cyberpunk-esque banger is sure to keep the crowd electric at the ATEEZ Coachella set, while the elements of rock blended together will also translate so well live at the festival. Imagine ATINY, who has traveled far and wide all in the desert, yelling the chorus together with our boys? The energy will be insane, and honestly, we can’t help but daydream about being there!
‘MIST’
Now, as much as we love these high-energy songs, we need to cool down a little bit, or the audience may combust. And what better way than with ‘MIST?’ This oldie but goldie comes from the final installment of the TREASURE series, EP.FIN : ALL TO ACTION, and is a great cool-down song, but it doesn’t let the energy totally die down. The song’s softness brings a bit more intimacy between the crowd and ATEEZ while still igniting the energy that a festival such as Coachella calls for. Plus, with no choreography, we get to truly witness our boys in the moment, putting their full attention and efforts into their vocal performance. Not to mention, potential new fans will finally get a moment to try and decipher who their bias is!
‘WAVE’
Continuing on from ‘MIST’ we’re adding in ‘WAVE,’ which is a subdued energy to let the crowd replenish but still full of utmost vibes and has that summery feeling to it, thanks to the tropical pop that carries the song. Coachella is in the midst of spring, but it still gives summer vibes, the marking of the beginning of brighter days and summer memories and ‘WAVE’ can easily offer a soundtrack for it all. We also lowkey wouldn’t be surprised if it trended on TikTok for summer montage videos!
‘Eternal Sunshine’
Of course, we need to keep those summer vibes going as we bring the energy back up, and ‘Eternal Sunshine’ is the perfect track to carry it on. This synth-pop bop is a vibrant and cheerful number that has elements of 90s nostalgia which we can’t believe was released over two years ago on ZERO: FEVER Part.3 (seriously, where has the time gone?!) This is full of dance vibes that we know will get the crowd moving and grooving for sure.
‘WONDERLAND’
Now our summery vibe section has come to an end, it’s time to ramp it up to 100% again, and what better way than with the iconic ‘WONDERLAND?’ Throwing it back to ATEEZ’s first full-length album, ‘WONDERLAND’ is a grand and dramatic song that is sure to capture the attention of newcomers and blow them away (because we know ATINY will already be mesmerized by the 4th gen icons and know what’s up!) The intensity of the production, the strength of the vocals, and the elaborate choreography make a powerful statement and truly let people know just what ATEEZ is all about.
‘Crazy Form’
Of course, we have to throw in a newer release from ATEEZ (though we have a few months to go, and anything could happen between now and then), and ‘Crazy Form’ is the title track from their latest full-length album, THE WORLD EP.FIN: WILL. Their MAMA’s performance of the song is still pretty fresh in our minds, and it was just pure electric. It’s perfect to show where the group is currently as artists and how far they’ve come since ‘PIRATE KING.’ Just thinking about it is getting us emotional.
‘Bouncy (K-HOT CHILLI PEPPERS)’
Finishing on a high, we think ‘BOUNCY‘ is the perfect song to end on. It really was that song in 2023 that had an impact on K-POP, so what better way to leave the crowd with that final memorable impression? And we don’t doubt that those who know it will be performing the choreo to the chorus in the spaces where there’s more room, showing newcomers just how ATEEZ and ATINY roll. It would leave the set finish on a high and with a truly memorable song to let potential new fans remember what we’re confident will be one of the most iconic performances of the whole weekend.
