This year keeps getting better and better! We’ve been so obsessed with all the 2024 book releases this month. Remember to check out the titles we’ve reviewed thus far, like Principles of (E)motion and These Deadly Prophecies.
Today, we’re reviewing a romantic fantasy series. But not just any regular series. We’re talking about All This Twisted Glory by Tahereh Mafi, the third novel in her This Woven Kingdom series.
Set in a world with forbidden romance, winding politics, and a queen destined to usher in a new era, All This Twisted Glory delivers as another phenomenal read we couldn’t put down. (We definitely recommend reading This Woven Kingdom and These Infinite Threads beforehand.)
We’re huge fans of Tahereh Mafi here at THP, and we finally get to show it! Here are three of our favorite things about All This Twisted Glory!
Book Overview
Content Warnings: violence, gore, torture
Summary: As the long-lost heir to the Jinn throne, Alizeh has finally found her people—and she might’ve found her crown. Cyrus, the mercurial ruler of Tulan, has offered her his kingdom in a twisted exchange: one that would begin with their marriage and end with his murder.
Cyrus’s dark reputation precedes him; all the world knows of his blood-soaked past. Killing him should be easy—and accepting his offer might be the only way to fulfill her destiny and save her people. But the more Alizeh learns of him, the more she questions whether the terrible stories about him are true.

The Love Triangle
Are you Team Kamran or Team Cyrus? While we rooted for Prince Kamran, Alizeh’s first love interest, in the first and second books, we’re too conflicted now to decide. All This Twisted Glory does a fantastic job of developing Alizeh’s second love interest, Cyrus, even more after These Infinite Threads. Cyrus’s troubled past makes us want to scoop him up and protect him. And we really weren’t expecting Cyrus to occupy our hearts this much after we finished reading! We don’t know who Alizeh will ultimately choose, but we know our hearts will be broken regardless.
The Supporting Characters
We love a good supporting cast, especially if the characters are as hilarious as the ones in All This Twisted Glory! The dialogue with Huda, Omid, and Deen had us cracking up so much. None of them can read the room, and they launch full-on debates and interrogations at the worst times. Huda’s banter with Kamran gives us the impression that there might be something more in the next book, maybe 🤔. And we can’t forget our lovely yet grumpy Hazan, Alizeh’s trusted friend and everyone’s (yes, everyone’s) voice of reason.
Cyrus Of Nara
Call us biased, but we think Cyrus deserves a separate section after All This Twisted Glory. Even though we weren’t swayed by his behavior in the second book, this third book really cemented Alizeh’s (and our) affection for him. Cyrus keeps trying to make himself the villain when his actions say otherwise. How he treats Alizeh and dreams of her so tenderly has us kicking our feet and punching the air. It breaks our hearts every time Cyrus stops himself from wanting more with Alizeh because he doesn’t think he deserves her. The heart-fluttering romantic tension between them goes crazy, and we can’t believe they’ve never even kissed!
Tahereh Mafi’s All This Twisted Glory, the spectacular third book in The Woven Kingdom series, tackles brutal love triangles, impending revolution, and a bloody fate that has us racing through each chapter!
We hope Tahereh Mafi releases a sequel trilogy to The Woven Kingdom series like she did with her Shatter Me series because we absolutely need it!
