New year, new audiobooks! We’re kicking off 2024 strong with all new book reviews and roundups. January had romances and mysteries that we happily indulged in.
Now for our first Sweet Listens of the year, the first of many monthly roundups of audiobook releases in 2024. Here are just a few of our January audiobook recommendations!

Dungeons And Drama By Kristy Boyce
Our first January audiobook recommendation is Kristy Boyce’s new novel, Dungeons and Drama! It’s a quick and fun fake-dating romance between Riley Morris, a theater kid, and Nathan Wheeler, a gamer and Riley’s new coworker. Dungeons and Drama gets juicy when Riley and Nathan’s fake relationship starts feeling real. Enter the theatrics from jealous exes and long-time crushes, and it’s a recipe for a dramatic show! And even though we don’t know much about D&D, we absolutely loved listening to the gameplay.

Wander In The Dark By Jumata Emill
Next, we have a January audiobook we finished in a day: Wander in the Dark by Jumata Emill! It’s a modern take on The Hardy Boys, centering Black protagonists who solve the crime and become the heroes. This murder mystery and thriller takes us to New Orleans, where the most popular girl gets killed in her home, and the main suspect is Amir, the last person she was with. Amir and his estranged half-brother, Marcel, work together to find the killer. But they uncover an even more dangerous mystery in the process.

The Invocations By Krystal Sutherland
Our last audiobook recommendation for January is Krystal Sutherland’s new novel, The Invocations! It’s a dark, witchy mystery set in modern-day London, where three girls must find clues and hunt down a serial killer. The killer targets women with invocations marked on their skin, identifying them as witches. Each girl has something she wants and something to lose if they can’t find the killer before he takes his next victim. The Invocations has so much action and so many plot twists that we couldn’t stop listening!
